Greenbrier has had a tough year. Coach John Elmore would be the first to concede that point. However, there are young players contributing now which bodes well for the future.

One of those is 2022 NG, Paxton Maness, who is only a sophomore but an accomplished interior defensive lineman and an accomplished powerlifter too. This offseason, before even being enrolled in the 10th grade, then freshman Paxton Maness was already bench pressing 300-pounds. His having that kind of power has played into his on-field production at NG where he has to stand up a hard-charging center, see the play, and shed the offensive lineman to make the tackle in the middle of the line.

With White House High School on tap tonight, the probability of finishing 2-8 is more likely than a Bobcat fan would ever willingly concede. However, young players like Paxton Maness has the Greenbrier faithful predicting the future doesn’t hold too many more 2-wins seasons. We would agree with that.

Congratulations to Paxton Maness of Greenbrier High School, in Greenbrie, Tennessee, for being selected the Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us, next week, as we anoint a new recipient.
