’26 dual threat QB looks to fill some fairly large shoes at an all-important position

We aren’t sure just how much ahead of Garrison Barker last year’s QB-1 actually was. If you look at Barker’s production behind center versus what departing senior (Remington Davis) contributed, you will find eerily similar production. Barker stepping into the departing Davis’s shoes would not seem to be that steep a climb. One thing is for certain, the Panthers are looking to make some strides. They have brought in Coach Quadarius Wallace to improve the program’s fortunes and he appears to be the man for the job. We think Barker has the athletic skill set to thrive in a role which will see him get the “lion’s share” of the snaps this coming season.

Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time.

The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back and forth. The trademarked logo is among Kentucky’s more celebrated and well known corporate identities across the commonwealth and has come to represent commitment to quality, cutting-edge innovation, and product reliability.

Big Ass Fans is so much more than just a gigantic fan. It is gigantic quality, gigantic performance, and a gigantic commitment to reliability and innovation. Its size is far from the only selling point about our product. Our product is a Kentucky Comfort Creator…and, these days, isn’t that exactly what Kentucky needs?

Friday Night Fletch, “KPGFootball”

Owensboro, KY: Garrison Barker got quite a bit of run at QB as the “starter” (Remington Davis) from last season. Both of the QBs were dual threat guys as likely to break down a defense on the ground as through the air.

This coming season is appears Barker may be “The Man.” Barker is ready for the responsibility.

Last season, Barker threw for around 300-yadrs while rushing for nearly 100-more. Barker had three (3)-TDs rushing and three (3)-TDs throwing.

Barker possesses a “diminutive” frame. That shouldn’t concern any of the Daviess County fans. Lots of fantastic HS signal callers have been 5’9,” and weighed 180-or so pounds.

Barker has some impressive strength and power numbers. We love kids who are willing to put in the work to thrive at a game where it is there for the taking if you will take it. Barker squats 440-pounds, bench presses 215, and pulls (or Dead Lifts) a cool quarter ton (500-pounds).

Barker played in 11 games a year ago, which (coincidentally) is the same exact number of games allotted last year’s starter (Davis). Barker has a versatile athletic skill set sufficiently considerable to permit his also playing WR, where he caught nine passes(9) passes for 116-yards, and compete on the gridiron as an “Athlete” which accounts for his being third (3rd) on the team in scoring in 2024.

Barker is an excellent student. Matter of fact, it is reported he carries a 3.5-GPA at a school noted for rigorous academic course loads.

In addition to QB, Barker plays WR and is an ATH…

Friday Night Fletch

Daviess County plays “big boy” football in the KHSAA. The Panthers are a 6A, first district team, which has seen some recent success. The Panthers were 11-2 in 2021 and 7-5 the very next season (2022). The Panthers were 6-6 in 2023, so it’s slipping to 1-10 in 2024 is seen as an aberration and not a trend.

We would expect to see a much improved product this coming ’25 season. If the Panthers are to make the stride we believe, it will take legitimate QB play from the head of the offense to “make it happen.”

We agree with Coach Wallace, we believe our man, Garrison Barker, is the right man at an opportune time. Now is the time for all great players to come to the aid of their teams.

It is Barker’s time and it is time for him to make the most of this chance. Then again, what do we know?
