’27 DE/LB/TE is making his mark on the 5A classification

Dalton Maynard is a good looking kid playing for a program which is accustomed to making deep playoff runs. Maynard is a 6’1,” 225-pound TE/LB/DE who got run in 12 games a year ago and made contributions on both sides of the scrimmage line. Maynard and his teammates play for a coach with 252-career wins and a state title under his belt even though the majority of the “damage” occurred outside Kentucky. Mark Pemberton has been the Tennessee Coach of the Year. Can he win the same thing in Kentucky? Look for the Eagles to make significant strides this coming season and talent like Maynard is the reason.

Mingua Beef Jerky uses Enviro-Pac CHU-2000 equipment to cook its meat to USDA required levels for both moist or dry operation. Mingua Beef Jerky wants you to become one of its many satisfied customers by sampling its quality hand sliced, all natural beef jerky. We know you’ll love it and come back for more, again and again.

Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.

Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein-packed Performer, Dalton Maynard, ’27 TE/DE/LB from Madison Southern High in Berea, Kentucky.

Berea, KY: Madison Southern has before made runs in the KHSAA playoffs. Jon Clark made the title game in 5A as recently as 2017. Clark also made it as far as the 3rd round a couple times, one time having to forfeit to Covington Catholic owing to the pandemic.

Point is, while the Eagles may not have ever won it all; they have lasted a few rounds, making the title game, all here in the previous eight to 10-years. They are accustomed to winning in Berea, one might well say.

That is why when the Eagles got in the coaching market they were able to land a “heavy weight” like Mark Pemberton. Pemberton’s career has been right impressive, depending on how one would define the word “Impressive.”

If you would call over 250-wins impressive, with a state title and a COY award under the old belt, then you might say the man has had an impressive career. It meets our definition, in case you were wondering.

Mark Pemberton’s coaching career has been right impressive

Friday Night Fletch

Coach Pemberton has worked at several Tennessee schools, like Cumberland County, Knoxville Catholic, Macon County, Brentwood, Rhea County, and Campbell County to name a few. Pemberton has worked at West Laurens in Georgia too.

As before hinted, Coach Pemberton has 252-career wins, a state title in Tennessee, and 14 ten (10)-win seasons. Pemberton has won 15-region titles and was the 2008 Tennessee Coach of the Year.

Not too shabby. Like we said up above, it meets our criteria for terms like impressive.

Speaking of impressive, Dalton Maynard’s play was pretty darn good too last year as only a sophomore. Maynard was an excellent blocker in the run game and caught a pass for 14-yards on offense at TE. Maynard registered 26-tackles, three (3) TFLs, and a QB-sack. Maynard also forced fumble.

Maynard is 6’1,” 225-pounds and played in all 12 of the Eagles games in ’24

Maynard is 6’1,” and weighs 225-pounds. Maynard played in all 12 of the Eagles games in which Madison Southern finished 5-7. The record is a bit deceptive as the Eagles were just one score on the road at Wayne County from knotting its record at sixes.

Maynard is a multi-sport athlete, also excelling at baseball. In baseball, the ’27 prospect plays the “hot corner” (3rd base) and pitches.

Eagles fans have every confidence Mark Pemberton can restore the program to its former luster and even take it further into the champion’s circle. With players like Dalton Maynard, one can see the reason for the optimism.

Join us next week as we return to honor another weekly prize winner. Until then, pop some Mingua Beef Jerky in your mouth and savor the quality and flavor which sets it apart from the competition. Remember, our product is superior and one of a kind; just like Madison Southern High’s Dalton Maynard.
