We first wrote about Braxton Laney on April 15, 2018, a little over a year ago. He was our player of the week then and was entering the 8th grade at Greenbrier and waiting to see whether he had made the Tennessee Future Stars Team after having been selected a middle school All-American (Bret Cooper) in 2017. Here’s a link to that article.

Checking in on Braxton a little over a year later and he’s still playing at the level we forecast for him in the previous article. Braxton won his second consecutive All-County MVP in 2018 to go beside the one he won the year previous. He finished with a school record 42 TDs scored either passing or rushing and is a solid bet to start somewhere for the Bobcats in 2019 on Friday night.

Laney is somewhat of a “work-a-holic” and every bit a beast in the weight room. Though only standing 5-9 and weighing 160-pounds, the QB/WR reps the high school bench press weight (185-pounds) 10 times and already squats more than twice his body weight (325-pounds). KPGFootball is willing to wager not a single other Bobcat varsity roster member Laney’s size can match either accomplishment.

Congratulations, to Braxton Laney for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
