Logan’s Zach Yates (2021), and Trigg’s Cade Bleidt (2020) are FOOTBALL PLAYERS!

December 16, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Here are two guys just darn good at playing football. They are the football player’s version of a football player. Many of you won’t know how exactly to define that term but you recognize it when seeing it. Football teams need players like these two and players like Bleidt and Yates will always be there to be our “Friday Night Heroes.” God bless both them and the gritty, do-what-it-takes kids who are just like them. HB.

Class of 2020’s Jeriah Hightower (@HightowerJeriah) is the Independence Bank (@1776Bank) Revolutionary Player of the Year for 2019

December 13, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

In a departure from our customary Revolutionary Player of the Week, we thought it would be cool to award a Player of the Year for 2019 from out of the areas serviced by Independence Bank, the fastest growing bank in the commonwealth of Kentucky. We can’t imagine a player who meant more to the offensive production of his team than this season’s recipient, Jeriah Hightower of Madisonville North-Hopkins. We will get back to designating players of the week next week, but for now, enjoy this article about a kid who really came through for his team for much longer than one week.

To be a champion in KHSAA football, you have to play championship level defense

December 11, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

In the business of covering Kentucky High School football we have a term we call “Championship Level Defense.” What we say about it is simply a Kentucky high school football team will never win a championship without playing defensively like a champion. Go back through your favorite team’s statistics and see whether you team played defensively commensurate with championship level play. What is championship level defensive play? Well, this article will tell you. HB.

Bully-ball

We are going to say something here with which Isaac Dixon, who we know well, would readily agree. He doesn’t gain 228-yards rushing on 15 carries and walk away from Kroger Field with the Class 3A, State Championship Game MVP hardware without Ethan “Big E” Wolford and the rest of “Haywood’s Hogs.” In a game dominated by grown men able to move the unwilling from A to B despite the latter’s protestations, Belfry reinforces the adage one has to “run the damn football” to win games in November and December in the commonwealth of Kentucky. We are going to miss Big E.

Owensboro Catholic’s Drew Hartz is the Independence Bank, Revolutionary Player of the Week

December 6, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. This week’s recipient is a quarterback who is a coveted and talented backfield star for the Aces from Owensboro Catholic High School. His efforts really made the Aces’ offense roll. Join us next week as we award this to another worthy recipient.

For 2020, Will Lennon Ries (Class of 2022, @lennon12 on Twitter) have his Russellville Panthers on the “come-up?”

December 4, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Never too soon for us to take a look at next year as the State Championships are to be played this coming weekend. There is one team we expect to make a rather strident leap forward in 2020 and it is the Russellville Panthers. They are used to owning the 1A classification on the western end of Kentucky outside of Louisville and it appears there are brighter days ahead for the traditionally rich program. Enjoy this look at the Russellville Panthers but only if you are a subscriber or buy the article.

We have taken to putting more of our articles behind the pay-wall for the benefit of our subscribers only. After all, the subscribers to the site and the advertisers are the only people to whom we answer in the end. Much of the information we relate is valuable to our subscribers and advertisers which is why they support us. It wouldn’t be right, and would deny them the benefit of their bargains, to just give it away to any and everyone. Sorry, it’s called capitalism. We forecasted the winners of every game played in the KHSAA, round 2, and we’re correct in 40 of 48. We were 18-6 in round 3, we were 9-3 in round 4. Let’s see how we do this coming weekend, in the State Championship round. Enjoy the article, but only if you are a member or advertiser. Otherwise, you can begin wondering what we said about your team’s chances.
