’26 WR/ATH future “Mr. Football” candidate
We can’t imagine a sophomore playing on a 5A roster capable of winning [and, in fact, winning] a 5A football championship having the type year Trevy Barber just experienced. He has already been offered by EKU and there are too many D-1s circling him to count. The team already has Deuce Bailey (’25) and having this guy in the class behind him is an embarrassment of riches. Coach Spader has built something Boyle County-ish in Bowling Green, KY.

Bowling Green, KY: There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank Player of the Week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.
Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance exceeded expectations through the regular season and who will be vitally important to the Dragon’s playoff success as we continue to travel down 2023’s path towards the championships. Today, we are focusing on Class of 2026, WR/ATH, from Bowling Green’s Senior High School, Trevy Barber.
Barber’s Bowling Green Senior High is located just down the road from today’s featured branch, the one located on “Williamsburg Square,” 877 Fairview Avenue; Bowling Green, KY. Get on by that branch today and discover what makes our people, products, and services revolutionary in the Kentucky financial industry.
In keeping with this offseason’s theme of versatility; today, we give you one of the more versatile performers in all of the KHSAA. Today, we feature Trevy Barber from Bowling Green’s Senior High School.
Barber was only a sophomore in ’23. Notwithstanding that, he helped lead his Purples to the 5A championship while putting up hard to fathom numbers.
Barber had 84-receptions over the course of his sophomore campaign. Barber also logged 16-TDs receiving and housed a kickoff to lead the ball club in scoring with 102-points.
Putting up those type numbers with a QB like ’25 Deuce Bailey around to deliver one the football is easier than otherwise. Bailey completed 242 of his 352-passing attempts for 3,517-yards passing and 43-TDs against only 7-picks. The Deuce, as we like to call him, also rushed for eight (8) TDs; so Bailey’s being among Kentucky’s more prolific offensive threats is exactly news to no one.
Barber has a skill which lends itself well to the type production we are seeing from him. Barber has a registered 4.5-second, 40-yard dash laser time. That means this guy, going forward, appears to be one of the more explosive and filthy fast types playing anywhere across the commonwealth.
Here is another thing and there is no away around for the BG-haters out there. Bailey has to be considered a frontrunner for the ’24 “Mr. Football” chase and Barber has to be a frontrunner for the ’25 version of the same award. This would make them both Gatorade, Kentucky POY’s candidates as well.
That would be a ton of hardware for one program, should it come off as planned. Couple that with a few more 5A titles and, well, you see the makings of what we generally refer to as a dynasty.
Congratulations to Trevy Barber for his Revolutionary Play over the course of the ’23 season which has earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, your friends at Independence Bank.
This is Friday Night Fletch, reporting for Kentucky Prep Gridiron and reminding you that WE’RE JUST CALLING IT LIKE WE SEE IT!
