Shannon Lofton came out of MS and led his Region I, Battle of the Region, team to the tournament championship. Region I has been gaining in both stature and prestige in that tournament as Region I high schools have been benefitting from the boost in talent being added to the roster each Fall. Shannon Lofton is a guy who should break out onto the high school scene for the Cardinals this year and in a big, big way. You will hear of him plenty this coming season. Enjoy the feature.

Cody Gibson is a good looking OL prospect from George Rogers Clark High in Winchester, KY. Gibson is 6’3,” weighs 255, with good length, good feet, and with a 295-pound bench and a 225-pound power clean, the kid has good strength and explosion which only figure to improve. This is a ’26 kid we expect to see some college programs get after. Gibson list DL among his positions, though he has mostly been a one-platoon guy along the offensive front. They call him “Quise.” At 6’3,” 330-pounds, with a school record back squat of 605-pounds and a near 300-pound bench press, we will call him whatever he likes. Quise Smith is just another first rate, division I, “power four” type to come out of one of Bowling Green, Kentucky’s and Class 5A’s premier programs. This kid is a monster and had quite the sophomore season. Yessir, you are reading that correctly, he is a ’27. We can’t help but be reminded of ’18’s Jacob Lacey who signed with Notre Dame a few years ago. Let’s keep it comfortable out there, Kentucky, and allow Big Ass Fans to assist you in that regard.

St. Xavier’s Tigers have been playing championship level football for many years around the commonwealth’s largest classifications. The Tigers have won 15 KHSAA state football championships across different classifications, with titles in 1962, 1969, 1974, 1975, 1978, 1986, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2016, 2021, and 2023. Smith has made the All-WKC three straight years and was Calloway’s Defensive POY a year ago. It is one thing to be the unofficial mayor of “Title Town.” It is quite the other to be a main reason why the town is so christened. Sam Harp is among the greatest to ever grace a sideline. Harp won 75% of his games in Danville, retired 326-106, won seven titles, and posted an unbelievable 82-21 post-season, playoff record. Along the way, he co-Authored a book with me about which no one, associated with football at the KHSAA level, can seem to stop reading. Enjoy this look at the great Sam Harp.
