Well, it’s Springfield vs. Greenbrier week, and Springfield High School’s Nate Kendrick (2020, NG) is the Stewart Williams Robertson County Player of the Week!

If you don’t know what kind of football program they have going at Springfield High School, then you don’t know enough about high school football to read this magazine. Well, the mighty Yellow-Jackets will get it on tonight against its most hated, Cross-County rival, Greenbrier. Nate Kendrick is a guy who could figure prominently into the outcome on both the defensive and offensive sides of the football. He’s a 6-0, 249 pound defensive lineman principally who has been getting used as a lead blocker from out of the backfield with more frequency as the season as worn along. Enjoy this article about this week’s Robertson County Player of the Week and join us next week as we award another recipient.

Owensboro (Sr.) High’s Austin Gough, Class of 2021, is the Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week…

October 25, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry. This week’s recipient is a player who didn’t suit up last week, and we believe that to be a first for this particular award. Join us next week as we designate another worthy award winner.

Jared Gobin, Madisonville North-Hopkins, Class of 2020, DE…

October 24, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Got an inquiry about a Jared Gobin and put out some feelers to my Western Kentucky correspondents about him. What I got back made me curious as to why we don’t hear more about him. Seems to me he is putting up All-State type numbers and, in the class room, he’s an ivy-leaguer. This kid will be signed and will play next level if he wants to, that I promise you. Enjoy the article about Madisonville North-Hopkins’ fine DE, Class of 2020, Jared Gobin.

Cade Bleidt, Class of 2020, Having an All-State type season for Trigg County HS

October 23, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

It is getting time to start thinking about All-State selections. When it comes to voting on the All-State team (AP), we nominate guys positionally for inclusion. What we mean by that is when the AP asks for five linemen we nominate a center, two guards, and two tackles. The way we treat it is who would we want if this mythical team were going to play a game against another team and we really, really wanted to win. When we are asked for 4 defensive linemen, for instance, we give two DEs and two interior guys for the mythical defensive line. We nominate two safeties and two corners for the back end, so on and so forth. Our criteria is a simple one, our first-team player would have to be good enough to transfer anywhere in Kentucky and be first team wherever he landed at the position at which he is being nominated. With that as a working criteria, which isn’t going to change, we will feature, from now through the opening of the ballot, players we believe fit that bill and some we believe are second-teamers, and even some we believe should be Honorably Mentioned. Today we are featuring a football player’s, football player in the Class of 2020’s Cade Bleidt from Cadiz, Kentucky. We love him. High School football teams are made off of players like him. He will be nominated for the All-State team by us. On which string he lands, or whether he merits just an Honorable Mention (which is still quite an honor), is something the voters will have to decide.

We have taken to putting more of our articles behind the pay-wall for the benefit of our subscribers only. After all, the subscribers to the site and the advertisers are the only people to whom we answer in the end. Much of the information we relate is valuable to our subscribers and advertisers which is why they support us. It wouldn’t be right, and would deny them the benefit of their bargains, to just give it away to any and everyone. Sorry, it’s called capitalism. We have forecast the winners of 65 games which will be played October 25, 2019. Let’s see how we do. Enjoy the article but only if you are a member or advertiser. Otherwise, you can begin wondering what we said about your team’s chances.

Collins (2020) & Long (2021) are “Double-Trouble” for Breathitt Opponents…

October 20, 2019 Henry Lyon 1

The two players we are featuring together in this article are two guys who both relocated to Jackson, Kentucky (as luck would have it) during this summer. Both of their parents found employment in the area and uprooted their respective families. The Collins family has long-standing ties to Breathitt County High School as the Collins boys prior to CA Collins all played at Breathitt. The Longs had never been to Jackson, Kentucky before finding employment in the area and deciding to locate there. It has worked out swimmingly for a team which no media outlet predicted would do much in 2019 but which is absolutely killing it with considerable contribution from the two guys who have (naturally) bonded. Individually they are “CA Collins” and “William Long” but together they spell Double-Trouble for Breathitt opponents.

Jo Byrns’ Matthew Henegar is the Stewart Williams Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week

October 17, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Here is a guy on a team which is struggling but that doesn’t mean he is. Matthew Henegar is a 6-2, 290-pound C/DT whose future is probably along the offensive line if he elects to play at the next level. Good offensive centers are hard to find and in demand in a big way. Enjoy this article about this week’s Robertson County Player of the Week and join us next week as we award another recipient.
