It is getting time to start thinking about All-State selections. When it comes to voting on the All-State team (AP), we nominate guys positionally for inclusion. What we mean by that is when the AP asks for five linemen we nominate a center, two guards, and two tackles. The way we treat it is who would we want if this mythical team were going to play a game against another team and we really, really wanted to win. When we are asked for 4 defensive linemen, for instance, we give two DEs and two interior guys for the mythical defensive line. We nominate two safeties and two corners for the back end, so on and so forth. Our criteria is a simple one, our first team player would have to be good enough to transfer anywhere in Kentucky and be first team wherever he landed at the position at which he is being nominated. With that as a working criteria, which isn’t going to change, we will feature, from now through the opening of the ballot, players we believe fit that bill. We will start with a DE from Anderson County for which there will be little to any debate.
We have taken to putting more of our articles behind the pay-wall for the benefit of our subscribers only. After all, the subscribers to the site and the advertisers are the only people to whom we answer in the end. Here is the “Official” Top 10 poll for each classification.
There are people out there who forecast football games in Kentucky ready to just hand Coach Chuck Smith’s Boyle County squad the Championship trophy for the Kentucky 4A classification right now. Since they are going to win it anyway, why delay the inevitable, some might say. There is a really good 4A team in Franklin County, Kentucky who mights say “wait jut a minute there.” That team has one of the best dual-threats at QB playing HS football today. Meet Nick Broyles.
Every weekend, we are notified by the Associated Press as to the results, from over the weekend, of the respective six classification’s top-10. In other words, who won and who lost among Kentucky’s highest rated football teams in each classification. As a service to our subscribers, we have begun publishing the information so as to pass it along to our subscribers. Here is how the top-10 fared on October 10th or 11th, over the previous weekend.
We are enormously privileged to get to vote in the weekly AP top-10 football polls for all 6 classifications of KHSAA football. This article is how we cast our ballot this week. THIS IS NOT THE OFFICIAL POLL as it will be released to the public this coming Monday afternoon, if tradition holds. We pour over data and statistical information in order to arrive at each team’s poll position. Don’t get too upset with how we vote, it plays itself out on the field anyway. This week’s Stewart Williams Company Robertson County Player of the Week is Wyatt Pearson from East Robertson Middle School. Pearsons has just been selected the MCC, Small School Division’s Middle School Lineman of the Year. His play regularly exceeds any and all reasonable expectations, week after week. We could pick games every week without missing a single prediction if we wanted to do that. There are very good HS football teams in Kentucky and there are very bad ones too. Just to prove a point, we have outlined ten games we guarantee will be won convincingly by the team we have predicted. If we lose even one of these ten, check the temperature in Hell. Funny thing is, a few of these matchups are between teams with similar records. Well, not all 2-4 records are similarly constituted. Enjoy the article. HB.
