Ten Friday night match-ups where the clock will run…

We have tried to pick the most competitive games this year to demonstrate our knowledge of the HS game in Kentucky. We are right way more than wrong. However, we could go an entire season and never miss a single game. All you have to do is select games you know will be blow-outs.

To demonstrate what we mean, the below ten games will all be blow-outs. We will go 10-0 in these picks, guaranteed. Some of these teams have similar records but will still be clock-runners. Not all 2-4 records are constituted similarly.

Here are ten games for which you can write down the outcome right now. These games will not be close…

Ballard Memorial is one of the very worst teams in the entire commonwealth of Kentucky. Murray High School is a Class 2A powerhouse. This game will be as ugly as Murray wants it to be.

The MoCo Indians, usually a powerhouse in 5A, are not very good this year. Somerset, ranked No. 1 in the 2A classification, put 75-points on MoCo allowing them about two scores. All of that aside, Great Crossing is terrible. Ease up though, it is their first year of competing in the KHSAA’s varsity division. MoCo will run the clock here.

Some people confuse Harlan with Harlan County. Those two aren’t remotely similar other than the “Harlan” part. Williamsburg will beat the ever-loving-horse-crap out of Harlan.

Warren Central has lost 42-consecutive football games. They put over 50-points on Apollo first game of the season. Fortunately for Apollo, they were able to post 60-plus on the Dragons. Apollo let McCracken blister them for 80-points. Defense just isn’t played at Apollo. Henderson County is really good and can play defense. Henderson County will kill Apollo.

Caldwell County is one of the best teams in the 2A classification. Fort Campbell has been completely blown out of the stadium on 7 different occasions. Friday night, it will be 8.

To add insult to injury, Perry County Central lost starting QB, Chase McKenzie to a season ending knee injury. He was really having a fine year too. Even with McKenzie in the lineup, this edition of Perry County would have never been able to stay on the field with Johnson Central. The Eagles win this one by less than 50 and they will have been exceedingly kind and gracious.

Sure, these two have similar records. One would think this would be a competitive game. Remember when we said not all records are similarly constituted? This was one of the match-ups to which we were alluding. Raceland rolls Betsy Lane tomorrow night.

Pikeville is the best team in the 1A classification, and if you believe in the RPI system, one of Kentucky’s best teams too. Phelps is greatly improved from the pre-Jones era and Coach West has done a nice job keeping the program moving along an upward arch. However, Phelps ain’t ready for no Pikeville smoke! Pikeville will kill the Hornets.

These two teams have the same record. Tomorrow night will demonstrate how little that really means. The only Holy Cross which could stay on the field with Beechwood is (maybe) the one in Louisville. This Holy Cross is located in Covington. They will get impressively routed.

Last week, Breathitt really took it easy on Morgan County. Against the “Nobody defense,” the first-string defense at Breathitt County, Morgan may not have had more than one or two positive gains all night. Lucky for Mogan the clock was running from the initial kick-off and they could move the ball on the JV. Middlesboro will not be accommodating at all toward the visitors. Why should they be? They only won a single game last year and they are still getting re-accustomed to winning. Middlesboro will be running the clock against Morgan early in quarter number two.

There you go, folks. All ten of these games will be blow-outs. We are guaranteed a 10-0 on these ten picks.
