Gavin Carwile, like cream, is a ’29 lineman rising to the top of his class… @CoachLandis22, @Coach_QBorders, @GavinCarwile, @StXTigersFB, @stxtigers, @bigassfans, @eCampusdotcom, @KHSAAFootball, @LasatersCoffee, #Kentuckys #fletcherwlong #LeadershipLegacy #CoachingExcellence #MentorshipMatters #characterbuilding #SportsLeadership #BuildingChampions #kentuckyfootball #highschoolfootball #DisciplineAndDedication #athletics #successmindset #bookstagram #booklovers

’29 OL has already planted himself in the Tigers’s play rotation, upfront, entering his sophomore season

Gavin Carwile got quite a bit of play along the offensive line, at the tackle slot, last season in spite of being a mere freshman. Of course, Carwile ain’t no ordinary freshman (forgive the informality). Carwile is 6’6,” 310-pounds, and is easily one of the more recruitable players on the offensive scrimmage line in the commonwealth of Kentucky. Carwile will battle for a starting slot as the season opens for Brian Landis’s inaurgural season at the helm of one of Kentucky’s more storied and successful programs at the 6A level of competition. St. Xavier is coming off a 10-4 season, Kevin Wallace‘s last, which would see St. Xavier bow out of the playoffs, in the semifinals, at the hands of state finalist, South Warren. St. Xavier will battle for supremacy in the “Big Boy” classification this Fall. Hulking linemen on hand like Carwile with Carwile’s frame, feet, hands (placement & punch), sink, and athleticism are a big reason why. Not all 6’6,” 310-pound sophomores are built alike, or even play alike. You will love this one! He’s a “flat-back,” “down-hiller.”

Gavin Carwile, Hudl Page, X-Account Profile

Louisville (Fisherville), KY: According to First Saturday Real Estate, an online site, Fisherville is an unincorporated community centered around Taylorsville Road in eastern Jefferson and western Spencer Counties. Fisherville sits roughly 20 miles southeast of downtown Louisville, just two miles east of the Gene Snyder Freeway (I-265) and I-64.

Carwile is “put together”

We have a ton of college coaches who read our site and our articles. Many of them have either already planned a trip to Fisherville or predict a trip to Fisherville in their program’s immediate future.

Doesn’t take a Nostradamus nor an Edward Cayce to make such a bold prediction. In the words of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, it is elementary, my dear Dr. Watson.

Why? Well, largely because athletic big men, with great feet and agility, a tremendous punch, an ability to sink and play with an appropriate pad-level who also possess enviable height, length, and bulk don’t grow on trees.

They can be hard to find. We know where a program can find one.

Gavin Carwile saw action in quite a few games a season ago. That is noteworthy for several reasons.

First, Carwile played for a legendary coach a year ago, Kevin Wallace, in what would be his “Swan Song” on a sure-fire Hall of Fame Coaching career. Wallace has his own chapter, Chapter 68 (p. 321), in our book, Kentucky’s All-Time, High School Football Coaches & A Few More I Liked. Finding the field for such a coach, with the access to roster talent St. Xavier routinely enjoys, is no easy task.

Six-Foot, Six-inch, 310-pound offensive lineman in the ’29 graduating class don’t grow on trees…

Friday Night Fletch

Secondly, St. Xaiver doesn’t just compete at the Kentucky 6A level in football. The Tigers yearly vie for championships at the KHSAA’s highest level of competition, having won 15-football titles playing at whatever was the commonwealth’s largest classification at the time (1956, 1957, 1962, 1969, 1974, 1975, 1978, 1986, 1992, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2004, 2009, & 2021).

Seeing the playing surface, as a freshman, at any KHSAA member institution, regardless of enrollment, is noteworthy and should be (rightfully) celebrated. Getting playing time as a freshman for Kevin Wallace, at a 6A program, playing for a program in Kentucky’s most talent laden area (Louisville) which has 15-previous Kentucky football titles? Well, that is just amazing.

When you look at this young man’s dimensions, the mystery sort of solves itself. Carwile is 6’6,” weighs 310-pounds, has been working offseason with the Borders Lineman Academy, and has made considerable strides in technique and movement since we last saw him play.

Carwile has been making college campus visits. Carwile has been attending college camps and combines. Carwile has impressed everywhere he’s been.

We believe this kid may be in the opening night starting lineup at the all-important left tackle slot for the Tigers when they open play in 2026. Carwile will continue to impress as he has put in the work to perform like a future college player.

This kid has the tools. Carwile has the frame. Carwile appears to have the want to. Now all Carwile needs is the opportunity. Hear that noise? Sounds like knocking; better answer the door.

Twenty-six can’t get here fast enough!
