’26 OL is framed, can move, competes in multiple sports, and carries a 4.2 GPA
The definition of “athleticism” is defined as “…possessing the physical qualities that are characteristic of athletes, such as strength, fitness, and agility.” You will find that North Laurel’s Zachary Philpot fits these characteristics well and in a variety of different varsity sports. This combination football and track & field star (shot put) enters his last season in high school football “…a wanted man.” This feature will answer for you just why that is as well as provide you the characteristics which form a college prospect at the OL position.

Mingua Beef Jerky uses Enviro-Pac CHU-2000 equipment to cook its meat to USDA required levels for both moist or dry operation. Mingua Beef Jerky wants you to become one of its many satisfied customers by sampling its quality hand sliced, all natural beef jerky. We know you’ll love it and come back for more, again and again.
Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.
Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.
Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein-packed Performer, Zachary Philpot, ’26 OL from North Laurel High in London, Kentucky.

London, KY: Steven Nelson at North Laurel looks like he has his Jaguars headed in an appropriate direction. North Laurel, a 5A program, went 5-7 in ’24.
The Jaguars lost to Southwestern by nine points, at home, in September and lost to Taylor County by 13, at home, in October. So, if you really crunch the numbers, North Laurel could have gone 7-5 about as easily as they went 5-7. A seven (7) win 5A team is an entirely different discussion than a five (5) win ball club.
One thing sure to bolster the efforts to climb toward 5A contention will be superior OL play. North Laurel has a “good ‘un” in Zachary Philpot.
Philpot is framed out very well. Philpot is 6’4,” 300-pounds and can bench press 335, squat 485, and deadlift (or “pull”) 525. That is a ton of explosion, power, and strength for the rising senior.
Philpot runs the “flying 10” in 1.68-seconds and clips off 40-yard dashes in 5.5-seconds
Athletic Dynasty
In addition to his “power” numbers, Philpot carries a 4.2-GPA and a registered 26 on the ACT. Schools not having to “wonder” whether they can get their prize OL prospect past admissions has become increasingly popular on recruiting circuits these days. Intelligence is a fine attribute to have in OL play.

Schools and we prize athletes with varied and diverse athletic skill sets. We prize football players who thrive at the high school level at more than one sport. Philpot is a star on the varsity football team. Philpot is also a star in the shot put pitch during track & field season. Colleges love OL who can put the shot and do it well.
Last season, Philpot made the Nations Elite, 5A, All-State Football Team. We predicted when featuring this prospect while a freshman (January of 2023) he would develop and grow into an OT prospect. He has played primarily on the interior but he has the frame and length to move outside in college.
Philpot also plays DL as a secondary position. Clearly we feel the “big fellow” is an OL and colleges appear to agree. Still, his possessing the type mobility, agility, and aggression to thrive along a defensive front in HS should tell you plenty about his athletic skills.
North Laurel is excited about its prospects going forward. Matter of fact, most Jaguar fans believe ’25 could well be a very prosperous season for its program and its progression. We know one thing, things look right rosy for Philpot!
Join us next week as we return to honor another weekly prize winner. Until then, pop some Mingua Beef Jerky in your mouth and savor the quality and flavor which sets it apart from the competition. Remember, our product is superior and one of a kind; just like North Laurel’s Zachary Philpot.
