’26 WR/Returner/ATH squarely in “Mr. Football” race
🎶Figaro... Figaro... Figaro... Figaro... Figaro
Figaro... Figaro... Figaro... Figaro... Figaro!🎶
Le Barbier de Séville; ou, la precaution inutile, “Largo al factotum," Gioachino Rossini, 1816
Trevy Barber, like Figaro before him, can do all things. The 5’9,” 165-pound class of ’26 prospect is the best receiver in his classification if not the entire commonwealth and Barber’s speed (4.5, 40) and shiftiness makes him a D-1 “take” in the return game. This guy led the team in scoring, contributed defensively, and was a headache for opposing teams in the return game. You don’t see too many three (3) phase guys in 5A football. You certainly don’t see it out of 5A powers who are riding consecutive titles, three (3) championships in the last five (5) years, and the ninth (9) title overall. Playing football for Bowling Green isn’t like just any 5A program. The Purples are in the mix most years. Trevy Barber is a guy who both can and does do it all for his team.

Bowling Green, KY: The Barber of Seville is among my favorite comedic operas. It is composed of two acts, was first composed by Gioachino Rossini around about 1816, and was first performed under the title, Almaviva o sia l’inutile precauzione, or “The Useless Precaution.”
The plot was based on a play written in 1775, entitled Le Barbier de Séville, written by Pierre-Augustin Caron de Beaumarchais. The opera by Rossini remains among the more frequently performed.
The main character is named “Figaro.” Figaro’s impressive entrance aria is “Largo al factotum” and includes a repeated proclamation of Figaro’s name. Figaro is singing joyously in Largo al factotum” about his role as the town’s “factotum,” meaning Figaro can do anything and everything and is constantly in demand.
Like whom does that remind you? Yessir, it seems to fit Bowling Green’s Trevy Barber to a tee.
Like Rossini’s character, Figaro, in “The Barber of Séville;” Trevy, the Barber of Bowling Green “Senior” High, is kind of a do it all guy himself. Matter of fact, Barber does it all, and very, very well.
Last year as a junior, Barber caught 79-passes for 1,327-receiving yards and 22-TDs. If we stopped there, that is still a mouthful.

Barber was a dangerous man in the punt and kickoff return game a year ago. Barber housed a kickoff for a touchdown among the club leading 138-points he scored, last season, in the Purples’ 15-games (9.2-points per).
Barber contributed on defense too. Barber registered a handful of tackles to go along with his contributions on offense and special teams.
Barber is a nationally ranked prospect, ranking a three (3) star on most popular, national services like Rivals (now On3.com) and 247Sports.com. Barber has been offered by Austin Peay, EKU, Troy, and Miami of Ohio with the Irish of Notre Dame hanging around and keeping close tabs.
Among the more onerous duties of any “Mr. Football” candidate is to lead his team to the promise land. Bowling Green Senior High is 25-5 over the last two seasons (2023, ’24), having played all comers large or small, with back-to-back 5A titles to show for it.
You factor in the title won in the pandemic shortened season of 2020 over Owensboro Senior, and the Purples have taken home three (3) titles in the last five seasons and nine (9) overall. That is what is called a program.
Obviously, Barber has had the good fortune of playing under the tutelage of his position coach, Nacarius Fant, and head coach Mark Spader at Bowling Green High. Spader, for his part has done well developing next level talent and looks (to us, anyway) to be putting the finishing touches on a hall of fame career in its own right.

As the opera sets forth in the lyrics of its most famous aria, our Barber of Bowling Green, like his counterpart in Séville is 🎶Pronto a far tutto, la notte e il giorno sempre d’intorno in giro sta.🎶 For those who don’t speak or read Italian, our guy stands, ever-prepared, or 🎶Ready to do anything, night and day, [while remaining] [a]lways around and about.🎶
That, ladies and gentlemen, is how one makes himself worthy of “Mr. Football” recognition. That is how Barber seems to be doing it. It appears to be working well.
