’26 lineman poised to put his team in 2A contention

Bo Wolford is a physical specimen. This isn’t really news to anyone as we have covered this prospect since his middle school days. Wolford is 6’3,” and weighs 305-pounds of angry momentum. He has the athleticism to play along the edge at tackle but may lack the length for that in college. We see him as a guard or center at the next level. There are plenty of suitors checking him out from the Ivy Leagues, to the mid-majors, to the “Power Fours.” One thing appears certain, his 4.0 GPA makes him a take pretty much anywhere in the country. This one here will make mince meat of the NCAA clearinghouse and the college or university’s admissions committee.

Belfry, KY: This online magazine has spilt plenty of ink on this prospect. We have been high on him since he first came out of middle school and joined the Belfry varsity football roster.

We have called Bo Wolford the best guard in Kentucky’s ’26 class. We have discussed him with college scouts who see him as a college center.

Belfry is very likely to deploy him at OT this coming season. That should tell you plenty about his “feet,” athleticism, and aggression.

Frankly, and we have been consistent in this characterization, Bo Wolford is the best interior offensive lineman in the high school game in Kentucky. Belfry, the last two years under the late, Phillip Haywood, has thrown the ball an inordinately high number of times for a Haywood offense. That means Wolford has experience pass-setting.

How much will Belfry sling it around under Varney? That is anyone’s guess. We can tell you the Pirates will remain quite stout on defense.

How much will the Pirates sling it around under new coach, Matt Varney?

Bo Wolford visited Penn when it played Colgate. Miami of Ohio hosted the big guy when it entertained Ohio University at home last fall.

Many more schools are having Wolford in this summer for camp. There is no telling the number of offers this guy is about to field.

We interviewed Wolford for this piece. He told KPGFootball, “I am blessed and honored to be garnering the recruiting attention I have so far. None of this would be possible without the consistent effort of my teammates, coaches, and the entire Belfry High School community. I owe these guys around me so much.”

For now, in the midst of “Dead Period,” Wolford is fully focused on the task at hand. Wolford has grown a bit taller and has packed on some “good weight” on his frame. Wolford is consistently weighing in and around the low-three bills (305).

That is where schools want Wolford. That is where Varney at Belfry also wants him.

Matt Varney

Wolford’s strength numbers remain among the best in the commonwealth among his position. Wolford is squatting 550 and pressing 355.

If he can continue to keep himself fit and healthy, we are looking at a guy here who may be among the first OL to get in a Mr. Football race since Josh Jaggers (1999) from Danville. Wouldn’t that be something?
