It is very rare for a freshman to make much of a contribution to a high school varsity football. How about a freshman running back who averaged 9.3-yards per carry, carried it a tad under 200-times, gained nearly 2,000 yards, and scored a TD every 8.65 carries? What about that for rare? We are recognizing the inordinate freshman season of Taylor County’s Peyton Smith this week. We felt his numbers were worthy of recognition and required nourishment. This may be the most important article we have published. There is a trend taking over the commonwealth of Kentucky and we love it. The trend, committing to elite academic institutions over waiting on D-1s to come-off with an offer, appears to be spreading and thank the good Lord for that. Look people, it is STUDENT-athlete and not student-ATHLETE. Let’s be smart out there and use our athletic talents to set us up with academic opportunities which set us up for rewarding, fulfilling, and comfortable lives.
At KPGFootball, we can’t be higher on any young interior offensive lineman than we are on Owen LeMaster. This kid is a bull in the tradition of an Ethan Wolford or even an Andrew Clifton. Heck, he even kind of favors Clifton. We feel LeMaster is the best OG in Kentucky in the graduating class of 2022. If we were selecting a football team from that class, he would be our first choice at the guard slot from out of all the guards playing Kentucky football presently.
