Checking in with Bo Wolford from Belfry @wolford_bo, @BelfryFootball1, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @WYMT, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans

June 30, 2025 Fletcher Long 0

We have been covering Bo Wolford since he was in middle school. We have hailed him as among Kentucky’s best IOL prospects for that long. Belfry has the 6’3,” 305-pounder on the edge playing tackle. We aren’t sure he has the length to do that at the next level. Wolford’s “next level” appears to be somewhere in the NCAA’s Division I; from Ivy League, to mid-major, to (maybe) even Power Four. Regardless, there is the matter of a championship to win for Belfry High. Belfry has moved down to 2A and may not find the sledding much easier through the top of that classification which Belfry is poised to join. Enjoy this “Check-in” with one of our all-time, favorite offensive linemen.

We see these hot-shot, gun slinger QBs come out of MS and look to challenge an incumbent for snaps every so often. It isn’t every year, but every five (5) or so years wouldn’t be a stretch. I once had a former college, SEC QB tell me the most popular position on any football team is the 2nd-string QB. If you think about it, it makes sense. Austin Jacobson is the best MS QB we have seen come down the pipe in a few years. He reminds us of Zane Johnson (Trinity) who defied all odds to lead the Shamrocks to the 6A title in 2023. Mason Trimble returns for St. Xavier and the rising junior had a very good season and looks to be getting some “Mr. Football” pub entering the ’25 opener. Trimble won’t hand the kid this job. However, should it get to the point his services are immediately needed, one could do much, much worse. Enjoy the feature.

Mason Griffin has a pretty tight lid on the QB job at South Laurel @Masegriffin7, @JohnHines66, @CoachDGage, @Gtown_Football, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

His name is Mason Griffin and he may be the best QB in the KHSAA with whom you might not be completely familiar. He is 6’4,” weighs 215-pounds and has a 4.0 GPA. Griffin plays for Next Up 7X7 and passed for 2,199-yards and 18-TDs his junior year in only 10-games of action. Griffin made his first team all-district squad and finds himself playing for a legendary head football coach in John Hines who has won over 200-career games. South Lauren is coming off a 6-win campaign and played in its first playoff game in years. Enjoy this feature about a young man whose star is on the rise and who may show up on some “Mr. Football” lists before all is said and done.

Is @LCA_Football the ‘best that has ever been’ in Kentucky’s Class 2A? @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @KyHighFootball @CoachDCharles

September 12, 2021 Henry Lyon 0

Is this team or that the best ever in Kentucky in its classification is heady and speculative talk. That aside, after the first four or so weeks of the season we have to wonder if LCA may not be the best 2A football team in Kentucky history? We believe the question is legitimate and fair. Here is our argumentative proof. HB.

Kalen “Jaws” Washington from @AntlerAlerts is the @minguabeefjerky “Protein-packed Performer of the week.” @PrepSpin @KYMSFAOfficial @KyHighFootball @1776Bank @Flyer_Football @frankfortsports @DennyDledford

If you have been reading our weekly “Outstanding Performances…” articles, the series of articles should have impressed upon you how very difficult winning this award really is. We had another spectacular week where there were numerous performances any one of which would have been a fine performance to single-out. This week, the high schools were off and the middle schoolers seized center stage. No one on that level of play thrust himself into a commonwealth-wide discussion any more forcefully than this week’s Protein-packed Performer. What do we mean by this? Well, read the article and see! Enjoy the article and join us next week as we honor another worthy recipient. HB.

Here’s how we see Round 3 shaking out…Just the Facts, Ma’am!

We have taken to putting more of our articles behind the pay-wall for the benefit of our subscribers only. After all, the subscribers to the site and the advertisers are the only people to whom we answer in the end. Much of the information we relate is valuable to our subscribers and advertisers which is why they support us. It wouldn’t be right, and would deny them the benefit of their bargains, to just give it away to any and everyone. Sorry, it’s called capitalism. We forecasted the winners of every game played in the KHSAA, round 2, and we’re correct in 40 of 48. Let’s see how we do this coming week, in Round 3. Enjoy the article but only if you are a member or advertiser. Otherwise, you can begin wondering what we said about your team’s chances.

Here it is folks, the last AP weekly football poll of this season…

November 4, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Okay, here is 2019’s final weekly poll by the Associated Press. Again this year, it was an inestimable privilege and honor to represent our readers and subscribers as voters in the weekly poll. We strove to represent you both well and sought to legitimately use both our knowledge and expertise pertaining to Kentucky High School football to cast the vote responsibly. We plan to be back voting in this same poll again in 2020, God willing. HB.
