Here’s how we see Round 3 shaking out…Just the Facts, Ma’am!

Okay guys, time to crow a little (more). We selected 48 second round games in which to pick the winner in Round 2 of the KHSAA football playoffs. In those 48-games, we were correct in 40 of those. Our 2nd round winning percentage was just over 83% (.833 ad infinitum). Don’t care who you are, that is pretty dad-burn good.

What can we say? We aren’t the foremost authority in HS football in Kentucky for nothing. This week we will go right down the brackets and pick the teams we believe will go on to round 4, or the Semi-State Championship. We will do this by Classifications.

1A

KCD over Crittenden County;

Newport Central Catholic over Holy Cross (Lou.);

Pikeville over Nicholas County; and

Paintsville over Williamsburg.

2A

Mayfield over Edmonson County;

Somerset over McLean;

Breathitt over Walton-Verona; and

Beechwood over West Carter.

3A

Paducah Tilghman over Taylor County;

DeSales over Bardstown;

Bell County over Fleming County; and

Ashland Blazer over Belfry.

4A

Franklin-Simpson over Madisonville-North Hopkins;

Central over Moore;

Boyle County over Scott; and

Johnson Central over Wayne County.

5A

Owensboro over Fairdale;

Bowling Green over South Oldham;

Covington Catholic over Madison Southern; and

Frederick Douglass over Southwestern.

6A

Male over St. Xavier;

McCracken over North Hardin;

Trinity over Oldham County; and

Simon Kenton over Tates Creek.

That’s how we see round 3 shaking out this coming Friday night. Don’t worry if we didn’t pick your team to win, we were wrong in round 2 under 17% of the time anyway.
