There is a reason the games get played on the field. Many of us around Kentucky were penciling in a victory for Hopkins County Central over Madisonville North-Hopkins last week. We don’t always award this to two players at once and we know the brothers Sokolowski are probably tired of being lumped together all the time but, c’mon, did you see the performance the two of them put up against 5A Christian County? Just ridiculous and both of the performances were so outstanding it would have been impossible to award this to one over the other. So, we awarded it to both. There is some precedence for this award being given to a coach and not a player. We have a distinct recollection of having done it one time prior to this, but even should our memory be faulty, it is high-time it happened. Quality coaching makes such a difference at the High School level of competition and The Storm has hired a great coach to help “coach-up” the QB-position, which is loaded this year (by the way) on The Storm’s ’21 roster. The Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week Award is among the commonwealth’s oldest and most respected weekly awards. Of course, Mr. Football is the ultimate award for any high school player in Kentucky to win. It is a huge honor just to be in the running. This week’s Revolutionary Player has been named to the preseason “Watch List” for Mr. Football. That is quite an honor. So is winning this. This week’s “Revolutionary Player of the Week” is St. Xavier’s Micah Carter. The 6-5, 250-pounder is one of Kentucky’s very best at his position in either the ’23 class or any other. He already has an impressive list of offers and won the Defensive MVP of the EKU Big Man Challenge this past Saturday.
