William Mitchum (’22) from @MurrayTigerFB is the @1776Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @KyHighFootball

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.

Murray, Kentucky

Today we honor ’22 DT/T, William Mitchum, from Murray, Kentucky’s Murray High School. Mitchum’s Murray High  is very close to a very well respected member of the Independence Bank family, the Murray, Kentucky branch. The Murray Branch (pictured to the right) is located on 507 North 12th Street.

Get on by the Murray Branch today and see our friends. Learn why Independence Bank‘s products, people, and services have started a revolution in the Kentucky banking industry.

Talk about a guy who had himself a senior year, William Mitchum fits the bill perfectly. The 6-1, 225-pounder found himself undersized for where he was primarily deployed (T/NG) but that hardly stopped him from registering an All-State type of season.

Mitchum, in only 11 or so games, led the team in three important (or even critical) defensive statistical categories. First, he registered 81-stops for top honors. Secondly, he had nine (9)-TFLs. Last but not least, were his five (5) QB-sacks.

Mitchum helped lead his Murray Tigers to an 8-3 mark in Coach Darren Bowling maiden voyage in Kentucky High School football. Along the way, during the regular season, the Tigers were able to knock off both Caldwell County and “Mighty” Mayfield during the regular season.

Mayfield returned the favor in the playoffs, rudely exiting the Tigers on November 12th, 2021. Oh well, there is always next year!

For the Tigers to continue to play at this year’s level of excellence or better, the team will have to find a replacement for an inside defensive presence which did everything in his power to help the team succeed. Not an impossible task, but it sure won’t be a snap either.

Congratulations to William Mitchum for his Revolutionary Play this past season which earned him this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.
