We co-authored a book with one of Kentucky’s all-time, HS, football coaches (Sam Harp). The title is Football 101: Boo-Boo’s a Quarterback. In that book, we write there are two types of high school football players, “Busters” and “Dudes.” We describe them both and won’t belabor the point here. There is a link offering to sell you a book two places in this very article. If you want to know what was said, buy a copy. We will tell you this much…Logan Smith ain’t no “Buster.”
HB Lyon, Scouting Director, “KPGFootball”

Murray, KY: Logan Smith is a Dude, man. We don’t know a better way of describing it.
Smith, a ’26 prospect is coming into his senior year among the more sought after recruits in his graduating class across the Bluegrass. The kid has around 250-career tackles; 1,077 yards from scrimmage; 638-yards after contact, just in 2024; 96-tackles last season, 60 of which were solos; and is a three time, All-Conference selection (WKC).
Smith was picked his club’s defensive player of the year for his work last year. Smith carries a 3.48 GPA on top of everything else.
Smith is 5’11,” and weighs around 200-pounds. Smith runs both the 100 and 200-meters for his high school track & field team and just won the 200-meter sprint and finished 3rd in the 100-meter sprint in a recent track meet.
We have included a picture of Smith running track. He may be among the thicker sprinters, running track, in the western Kentucky area. Like we said, this guy is a “Dude.” Look for yourself.
Smith maybe the thickest sprinter on a WKY track & field team we have seen in a while
Friday Night Fletch
Smith has been clocked at 4.66-seconds in the 40-yard dash. That is a fully automated time. He runs the 100-meters in the 11.9’s, so the 40-time checks.
Smith is 23.85-seconds in the 200-meters, so he is in good shape in addition to being fast. Not many people run the second 100-meters, in a 200-meter sprint, as fast as the first. Smith does!
Logan Smith is a heck of an athlete. Coby Lewis couldn’t be any more thrilled to inherit a roster with this type talent already in place.
Coach Lewis was on Shaun Thompson’s staff at Tilghman High (Paducah) a year ago. While Calloway was suffering through a winless campaign, the “Blue Tornado” was polishing off a 15-0 and 4A title which included a 63-0 pasting of Calloway County on October 24, 2024 in Paducah.
None of that matters now. That is why we have such things as coaching changes.
Coby Lewis has been brought in to turn those fortunes in an entirely new direction. Lucky for him there will be a senior “Dude,” the ilk of Logan Smith, around to ease the transition.
This is Friday Night Fletch, reporting for KPGFootball, and we’re reminding you to PLAY THROUGH THE WHISTLE!
