College players need to hit the lineup by their sophomore years in HS. We have discussed this many, many times and that seems to be true regardless the quality of the program or its level of play. We believe McDaniel is a future college football player. He was in the lineup in ’22 and productive. To quote BTO (Bachman-Turner Overdrive), “You ain’t seen nothing yet…”

When we first went online, the Wildcats from Franklin-Simpson seemed unbeatable. They were in the midst of a three (3) year run of titles in Class 4A. What a job Chase Flaherty did filling in at RB for the newly crowned 2A Kentucky Champions, Beechwood, after it lost its “Mr. Football” candidate Mitchell Berger. Almost makes you think the Tigers are elite across the offensive front, which is the case by the way. Still, the championship game came down to Mayfield’s extra-point attempt sailing wide of a college goal post which would have been good had the kicker been kicking toward a high school goal post. We are approaching round four (4) in the KHSAA playoffs. All of these teams left standing are very good. There are exactly no bad apples left in the barrel. It will be the “little things” which differentiate between winning and losing at this point. “Mighty Mayfield” has themselves the home field and a kicker in Lincoln Suiter who has before come through for the Cardinals in a “big game,” with the game on the line.
