We love to come up with something clever in the title. Daulton Tarter’s name lends itself to “Tartar Sauce” references easily and we decided to go with that. Gatorade’s slogan, or one of them at least is, “Is it in you?” That is a very appropriate question and one which bears on how this kid came to commit to EKU. Hensley’s father was a four year football letterman at EKU and both his parents graduated from EKU. Do you know what is in him other than a legacy to EKU? This is Bryson Johnson and he is the best football player in 8th-grade anywhere in Kentucky. He forecasts as a LB, most likely, in high school but could find a home in the offensive backfield. I coached a player at Hoptown Middle School who went on to be a star in HS and signed with Campbellsville. Jevon Leavell was that guy and a coach I had on staff looked at me, one time, and said, “Coach Long, I am going to give you some advice today which stands to really help us…find ways to get the ball in Mr. Leavell’s hands.” Leavell went on to break Hoptown’s 100-meter dash record in track. Artose Pinner and Curtis Pulley both ran track for the Tigers. Leavell and Wheels Turner have lots in common. Enjoy the feature. FL.

Evan Pitzer has one of the better frames of any QB competing in the KHSAA. He also has his Colonels off to a fast start with wins, out of the gate, against Ryle and hated rival Ft. Thomas Highlands. One thing we have learned through the years, there are fantastic football players on every single roster regardless of the team’s success or lack. Kam Brown is an excellent example of this. You won’t find too many better athletes playing TE in the ’26 class around the commonwealth. You won’t find too many TE’s (in any class) framed out any better than he. This is one to watch going forward visa vie prospects from around the Bluegrass. He’s off to a fine start. Read it here! FL
