It is called Mountain Musical Chairs. Each year some of the mountain’s finest football talent moves from school to school. It is accepted, rarely bad-mouthed, and frankly just a way of life around the Appalachia region. Ask Belfry how many of its former superstar players were from over the West Virginia state line for instance. Well the three prospects pictured above, Kizer Alone, Landon Smith, and Ethan Combs, all played for Knott County a year ago. This year, zero for three…c’est la vie!

The clock is striking ’12’ for Corbin’s Ethan Gregory (’24). @MDGregory32 @CorbinFootball @sansann03 @minguabeefjerky @KyHighs @HLPreps @KyHighFootball @1776Bank @MaxPreps @ErikRichardsUSA @Eregory3222 @PrepSpin

This prospect has been likened to Wandale Robinson. We watch him and believe him to be more of a Jay Becherer clone. Regardless, he is likened to two exceptional former high school players both of whom flourished in college. We believe before it is said and done, this kid here will do likewise. He is certainly putting in the work. Enjoy the feature. HB.

Perhaps @LaytonDavis4 belongs to Layton Davis. @pths_football @CentreFootball @minguabeefjerky @KyHighFootball @PrepSpin @1776Bank @MaxPreps

This is Drew Davis. He is among Kentucky’s very finest interior, defensive down lineman in Kentucky’s ’23 class. We believe he will be a first-team All-State AP player next Fall and made the KPGFootball first-team a year ago. There are two programs which believe he is theirs. In the end, isn’t he his-own? Enjoy the feature. HB.

@iamzanedeaton (Zane Deaton, C/O 2022) promises to keep @hazardfootball1 where they customarily reside, toward the top of the 1A classification

The Hazard Bulldogs, when they unload off the bus, just never look like how you would think a 1A team would look. They are always big, brutish, physical, well-coached, and in the 1A title-hunt. One problem they have is the emergence of district-foe, Pikeville, as the classification’s preeminent team. With young talent like Zane Deaton and Elijah Gayheart, coach Howard will find his way. Enjoy this look at Deaton. HB.
