The season is right around the corner and we are doing what we typically do every year. We are going through the classifications, 1A-6A, and breaking down how we see the coming year progressing. We study these type things, have analyzed coaching staffs, personnel changes, and other statistical data to arrive at an opinion which is far from a guess. The Kelley family has a very long history in the local football industry and several of the Kelleys have had their numbers retired owing to their familial history of playing excellence. We continue on with our offseason coverage not really discussing players of the week so much as discussing featured players and prospects. The ‘Scholfield Leg Rocket’ was simply among the best PK’ing football talents in the Kentucky-wide, KHSAA football game at his level of play and particularly on the western end of KY. Scholfield came on our radar with his play over the course of his career at McCracken County during Coach Marc Clark’s time at the helm of the Mustang’s ship. Since then, Scholfield has done nothing but confirm we were all right about him from the beginning. Scholfield only improved over his high school career, and had a nice college career to boot. Scholfield was the kind of kid coaches wanted to coach and, in the end, that may have been the finest compliment which could have been paid him (or any other kid). Enjoy the feature.

Hopkinsville’s Bobby Rogers has passed…

No matter the age of a love one, and regardless of the certainty of death, we never seem ready for someone to leave us. We shouldn’t feel for the one who leaves, they are going to a better place. We should (and often do) feel for the ones left behind. My best friend’s dad has passed and my friend is (understandably) distraught. We all are, especially around the offices of the magazine. Bobby Rogers was a one of a kind guy who knew just how to father, husband, or even pull off being a great friend. Bobby will be missed. Enjoy this memorial to him and his memory.
