Well, this will officially end our in-season duties to our readers and advertisers. From this point forward it is off-season coverage. Today, we post our Large School All-State Defense. Like we always say, we will miss some. We believe all of the kids we have included here deserve it. Enjoy.

We are celebrating the end of the football season in Kentucky and this is All-state week for us at KPGFootball. Yesterday, we published our Small School, All-State Offense and today we give you the Defense. This team won’t be perfect, there will be plenty of worthy players left off. However, we are confident these guys here are plenty worthy. Enjoy and let the debate begin.

It is that time of year. We will be breaking the Big Ass Fans All-State Football team in segments. Today will be the small school all-state offense, tomorrow will be the defense; then we will follow suit for the large schools (4A, 5A, & 6A) Hold on tight folks, this will probably be a bumpy ride.

Rylan Gillion came up big at (perhaps) the biggest game of the year. Covington Catholic, fresh off an improbable win over Kentucky’s very best football team at the high school level, rolled into Frankfort, Kentucky looking for its second road-upset of the playoffs. What they found was a mighty cool customer in Rylan Gillion. Gillion’s production may have accounted for the 14-10 margin in the Flyers’ favor. Now, it is on to Lexington where Franklin County will play a talented Paducah Tilghman team. Enjoy the feature and let’s keep it cool out there Kentucky!

Brady Atwell is firmly in the hunt for Kentucky’s “Mr. Football.” His uncle won the distinction in 1999 and playing at a level (Class A) which hasn’t boaster too many winners. Brady has a tough road to haul with Beechwood coming to Lexington seeking the same distinction as the Catholic club. Cash Harney has proven himself quite the athlete whether playing point guard or QB and has another year of elgibility remaining. Santee Brock is a guy who started the year on the sidelines but has come out into the sunshine in the latter stages of the season in a big, big way. This guy had an incredible game against Male in the second round and braces for a trip to Trinity for the Regional Championship. Enjoy the feature and let’s keep it cool out there Kentucky!

Some predictions age better than others. We wrote an article about this prospect in May of 2024. In that article we predicted this kid, who had an athletic frame and bounce, would have a “break out season.” He did just that. Join us as we crow about our innate ability to peer into the future regarding the prowess of a young player who has, once again, proven we know about what we are talking.

Chase Flaherty is a baseball and football star at Beechwood High. Flaherty has been convincing this season as an all-state caliber running back as well as contributing on the defensive side of the football.
