’27 multi-phase contributor looks for even more production over junior season
Waylon Carter is a tough kid. The more he finds the field over his junior season (upcoming), the better it will be for the Storm. Carter had 25-tackles, a half a sack, and provided some pivotal duty on offense. Take into account his play on coverage units and he was a three phase guy in ’24. We see his role expanding exponentially in ’25. We like his frame (5’10,” 160) but he looks to have considerable length on his frame and looks to have the type frame not quite out of the oven. He has growing to do and he could really round into something special before it is all said and done.

Morton’s Gap, KY: Waylon Carter is a tough kid. If you don’t believe us, you need to get in touch with the kid’s middle school coach.

We did. We were impressed.
Coach Gregory told KPGFootball, “Here is a fact about Waylon which says a ton about him. His seventh grade year his mom passed and he had to bury her. Never an easy thing to do for any son.”
Coach Gregory continued, “Five hours or so after the service, Carter scores four (4) TDs. We were playing Union County which is pretty routinely the best team we face in any year. That is the kind of kid we’re talking about here; tough, gritty, determined.”
Carter is older now, of course. His mom is still watching over him. Carter is still performing for his teammates and school.
Last year, as a sophomore, Carter performed admirably for a kid getting seven games of PT on Friday Night. Carter rushed the football a handful of times, caught a pass, and routinely played on multiple coverage units on special teams.
Defensively, Carter’s efforts were a tad more prodigious. Carter registered 25-tackles and a half a sack. Carter made the most from what amounted to a limited sample size. Now, on behalf of Carter, it is high time we (as a program) increase the young man’s sample size.

We have talked about the sophomore year as being the season where the future college player reveals himself. Carter revealed himself sufficiently. Now is the time to crank it on up to the All-State level of performance of which he is completely capable.
Carter is 5’10,” and weighs around 160-pounds. He has plenty of length and his frame looks like there is some growing yet to do.
This kid plays linebacker, receiver, and running back. We would like to see some more of this dynamic athlete on the offensive side to go along with a defensive performance which is ahead in the progression pile presently.
Carter has proven he can play through incredible loss. Carter’s mom is still with him, she is still helping him, and he has much more he can show her from her seat in the great grandstand in the sky.
We’re excited to see it too. See you guys at the games.
