Nash Bird from West Jessamine is our @minguabeefjerky Protein-packed Performer of the Week @NashBird24, @WJCOLTSFootball, @kwc_football, @CoachWalker_M, @DLCoach_Danford, @bigassfans, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball

’27 WR/LB has all the tools to thrive on the field

Nash Bird may be named “Bird” but he could have been named “Dude” just as easily. Bird is 6’2,” 185 pounds with plenty of room on his frame to hang good weight, should defense end up his next level calling. With a 76-inch wingspan, this kid has some length and his 118-inch broad jump, 4.44-second short shuttle, and 4.68-second, hand-timed 40-yard dash indicates this is a cat with some burst, explosion, and athleticism. This guy is among the top WR/LB combo players in Kentucky’s ’27 graduating class. Better keep your eyes on him. Bird “Duded-out” at the Kentucky Wesleyan “Junior Day,” finishing first of 172 in the broad jump, 10th of 177 in the short shuttle, and 13th of 180 in the 40-yard dash.

We know you’ll love it and come back for more, again and again.

Ronnie Mingua began experimenting with making beef jerky back in the 1990s. He shared his efforts with neighbors and friends, soon realizing he had come up with something different and superior to all other beef jerkies on the market. From these humble beginnings, Mingua Beef Jerky got its start.

Today, the Mingua Beef Jerky Company still prides itself on using its old-fashioned, all-natural recipes which offer outstanding products to customers across the nation. The recipes are a family tradition, passed down from generation to generation.

Our recipes and our quality ingredients, hand-cut from solid pieces of beef, are never chopped or formed like other brands, making our products superior and one of a kind. That would make our products similar to this week’s Protein-packed Performer, Nash Bird, ’27 WR/LB from West Jessamine High in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

Nicholasville, KY: West Jessamine has struggled some developing football talent sufficiently to flex its muscles around District 7 of the 5A classification. Having Montgomery County in the district together with Madison Southern has before proven difficult but the 7th district looks like it is anyone’s to win in 2025.

Madison Southern and Montgomery County return from five (5) win seasons, but West Jessamine beat the boys from Mount Vernon, KY a year ago. Southern beat West Jessamine in Nicholasville but the Eagles proved no tougher test, in round two, for Pulaski County than the Colts proved to be in round one.

One thing is for sure, Nash Bird has been making the combine/camp circuit and we hear the results have been pretty impressive. Bird is coming of a really fine year as a sophomore and looks to build on that momentum in ’25.

Last season, Bird found the lineup. As we have before discussed, finding the lineup your sophomore year isn’t a snap. It is particularly not easy playing 5A football.

Bird also played on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Playing multiple phases of a football game, at a school with that type enrollment, is also not done routinely by anything apart from exceptional athletes.

Bird registered 54-tackles, 7-TFLs, a pair of sacks, a FF, and a FR he scooped and scored from 53-yards outside the end zone.

Bird played some offense too. Bird caught eight (8) passes for 101-yards receiving.

Bird had 54-tackles, seven (7) TFLs, two (2) sacks, a FF, a FR, a “scoop and score” and caught eight (8) passes for 101-yards

Bird attended Kentucky Wesleyan’s prestigious “Junior Day” combine. The 6’2,” 185-pounder with the 76-inch reach polished off a 4.69-second 40-yard dash, broad jumped 118-inches, and ran the short shuttle (5-10-5) in 4.44-seconds.

Out of 180-or so participants, Bird was first in the broad jump, ranked towards the top of the campers in length, ranked 10th in the short shuttle (also known as the “pro agility shuttle” or the “5-10-5”) and ranked 13th in the 40-yard dash.

In case we forget, Bird carries a 3.5-GPA at one of Kentucky’s more academically challenging curricula in the Bluegrass. College football programs recruiting Bird will be thrilled to see with his grades, he is an easy take.

West Jessamine High is coming off a 3-8 season. However, they hung around a long time in most of their district games and barely dropped the game to heated rival, East Jessamine, getting that game at home this coming season. There is reason for optimism.

Join us next week as we return to honor another weekly prize winner. Until then, pop some Mingua Beef Jerky in your mouth and savor the quality and flavor which sets it apart from the competition. Remember, our product is superior and one of a kind; just like West Jessamine High School’s Nash Bird.
