Artman, a ’27 QB, won’t hand the slot over to anyone
Beau Artman is a ’27 QB who got some play in seven of St. Xavier’s 14-games (10-4) a year ago. Of course everyone was chasing departing senior and Center College signee, Mason Trimble, at the QB slot a season ago. Still, Artman has physical characteristics and skills which recommend him for the job next season. The Tigers, under first year coach Brian Landis, will potentially have a big time transfer who may well compete for the QB-1 slot, but we don’t discuss transfers in this magazine until the young man has applied for instant eligibility and been cleared for play by the KHSAA. Transfer or not, Artman won’t “cockroach” and give the slot to anyone.

Big Ass Fans from Lexington, Kentucky has a simple corporate goal. The company is “creating a more comfortable world,” one fan at a time.
The logo is the rear of a donkey (Fanny) swishing its tail back and forth. The trademarked logo is among Kentucky’s more celebrated and well known corporate identities across the commonwealth and has come to represent commitment to quality, cutting-edge innovation, and product reliability.
Big Ass Fansis so much more than just a gigantic fan. It is gigantic quality, gigantic performance, and a gigantic commitment to reliability and innovation. Its size is far from the only selling point about our product.
Our product is a Kentucky Comfort Creator…and, these days, isn’t that exactly what Kentucky needs?

Louisville, KY: Brian Landis comes into Louisville, Kentucky to seize the reigns of one of the KHSAA’s more prestigious, 6A football programs. The program was formerly headed up by a sure-fire, first ballot, Hall of Famer (Kevin Wallace) as soon as the time for his induction arrives.
Mason Trimble was a key player on the roster for the Tigers a year ago and helped the team to 10-wins and a final four berth in Kentucky’s premier and largest classification of football competition (6A). Trimble threw for over 2,100 yards and 26-TDs against only four (4) picks and has taken his talents to Danville, Kentucky to compete for the QB-1 job at Centre College.
Neither back-up to Trimble got too many reps, whether that player’s name happened to be Beau Artmanor Will Burmester, both of them ’27s. While we don’t know for sure, it would appear to us Artman has characteristics and physique which recommend him for a shot at the first-team repetitions in the Fall of ’26.
Artman’s playing experience in ’25 was scarce. Artman completed five (5) passes, two (2) to the wrong team, among his 13-passing attempts. Artman carried the ball 9-times and lost some 32-yards. In all, Artman got seven (7) games of playing time on the varsity roster.
Statistics alone hardly tell the entire tale. Artman is 6’4,” and weighs 185-pounds. His frame has plenty of length and height and Artman clips off 40-yard dashes in 4.76-seconds. Artman’s 36-inch vertical indicates he may even be faster once he improves the 40-yard dash technique.
Artman runs the pro-agility shuttle in 4.57-seconds. That is quite good for a long, tall drink of water like Artman. The 5-10-5 (as it is sometimes called) is usually better run by shorter, specially quicker types similar to finding a quarter-horse to run the barrels.
The frame is there. The physique is there. The athleticism is there. What about the intellect?
We’re glad you asked. Artman is carrying a 3.9-GPA at one of Kentucky’s premier college preperatory curricula.
Artman appears to have it all. Artman appears to “look the part.”
The only thing retarding his progression appears to be game repetitions. Game reps can be hard to garner playing behind a QB, like Mason Trimble, only one year ahead of you on the roster.
That knocking sound Artman hears is Opportunity. Opportunity doesn’t come around often and he doesn’t always knock twice.
That sound at the door is “Opportunity” knocking; Artman has a final chance to answer
Friday Night Fletch
This offseason is critical toward Artman finding his way under center for the ’26 season. It is rumored St. Xavier may be getting a big-time producer at the QB position from a lower classification. We don’t comment (or identify) potential transfers until such time as the KHSAA has cleared the athlete for immediate competition.
Beau Artman
That has always been the position of Kentucky Prep Gridiron on such matters. We don’t see any reason to depart from the practice presently.
However, we would just say this. We don’t care if Joe Montana is transferring onto Landis’s first Tigers roster. Neither Beau Artman nor Will Burmester is likely to “step aside” and hand the transfer the QB-1’s arm-band.
Artman has this offseason to get himself “right.” Artman has this offseason to get himself “ready.” Same is true of Burmester. Same is true of the mystery transfer, no matter who he happens to be.
Who will end up being the one? Well, we suppose we shall see. Don’t be surprised if it is Beau Artman. That is all we are saying.
Congratulations to Beau Artman on being this week’s Big Ass Fans feature. We know a big-timer when seeing one!
