The sophomore year is when big-time players begin to contribute. Playing as a freshman is a rare thing. Even then, it is only on special teams in most instances.

However, you can watch enough of some freshmen to see, in advance of the sophomore season, that you may have something next level, something special. That is exactly what fans of the Yellow Jackets thought they saw in D’angelo in the limited amount of play they saw from the rising sophomore.

Petties is a long-limbed frosh who gets deployed at MLB on defense most often. Offensively, Petties tends to get slotted as a FB on a majority of snaps.

One thing is certain, with the losses to graduation suffered by the Yellow Jackets in Spring/2019, this powerhouse ball club will go only as far as the young talent on the roster, like Petties, takes them. Good thing quality football players grow on trees around Robertson County, huh?

Congratulations, to D’angelo Petties of Springfield, Tennessee for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.

Reporting for KPGFootball, this is F.W. Long, reminding all of you ballers out there that #WeGotUCovered and to PLAY THROUGH THE WHISTLE.
