Statistics haven’t been posted yet for many performances we would have loved to cover for you. That is the case every year as we fight to morph our coverage from the out of season stuff to the in-season content. Bear with us. Here are just a few of the exceptional and noteworthy performances from last night’s action. Enjoy. HB.

Last week of the regular season. Here are our picks…@KyHighFootball @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin

November 6, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

We have picked four games for you which we have done some checking with the respective coaches and believe are being played tonight. We are 55-12 on the year and wanted to pick 5-games to attempt to get our win-record to a cool 60 but, in this day and time, you take what you can get. Let’s see if we can run the table this last week of the regular season which has been anything but regular. HB.

Logan’s Zach Yates (2021), and Trigg’s Cade Bleidt (2020) are FOOTBALL PLAYERS!

December 16, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Here are two guys just darn good at playing football. They are the football player’s version of a football player. Many of you won’t know how exactly to define that term but you recognize it when seeing it. Football teams need players like these two and players like Bleidt and Yates will always be there to be our “Friday Night Heroes.” God bless both them and the gritty, do-what-it-takes kids who are just like them. HB.

Cade Bleidt, Class of 2020, Having an All-State type season for Trigg County HS

October 23, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

It is getting time to start thinking about All-State selections. When it comes to voting on the All-State team (AP), we nominate guys positionally for inclusion. What we mean by that is when the AP asks for five linemen we nominate a center, two guards, and two tackles. The way we treat it is who would we want if this mythical team were going to play a game against another team and we really, really wanted to win. When we are asked for 4 defensive linemen, for instance, we give two DEs and two interior guys for the mythical defensive line. We nominate two safeties and two corners for the back end, so on and so forth. Our criteria is a simple one, our first-team player would have to be good enough to transfer anywhere in Kentucky and be first team wherever he landed at the position at which he is being nominated. With that as a working criteria, which isn’t going to change, we will feature, from now through the opening of the ballot, players we believe fit that bill and some we believe are second-teamers, and even some we believe should be Honorably Mentioned. Today we are featuring a football player’s, football player in the Class of 2020’s Cade Bleidt from Cadiz, Kentucky. We love him. High School football teams are made off of players like him. He will be nominated for the All-State team by us. On which string he lands, or whether he merits just an Honorable Mention (which is still quite an honor), is something the voters will have to decide.

Meanwhile, down on the farm…

August 26, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

They call minor league teams supplying the majors with talent a “Farm system.” You will see writers who cover MLB talk about news “Down on the Farm.” We have borrowed from that principal for this weekly segment on outstanding performances from middle school stars who will shortly be starring on Friday night. Believe me, their time will be here before you can possibly believe. Enjoy this regular, in-season, look at what is going on down on the farm. HB.

Cam Jordan, Trigg County, Class of 2020, rising to the top…We called it first!

June 1, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Nothing is more excruciating than someone telling you, “I told you so.” That being said, “we told you so.” We wrote an article about Cam Jordan in September of 2017 which appears to have rung eerily true. Was Fletcher Long an Edgar Cayce worthy clairvoyant? Perhaps. Perhaps, he just knows a ton about football. Anyway, you be the judge and enjoy the article about one of KPGFootball’s favorite Kentucky HS players. HB.

Kentucky High School Football teams who figure to greatly improve in 2019 (This will be a series, today…Meade County & Trigg County)

May 20, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

We have seen Kentucky High School football teams reverse fortune before and rather dramatically. We are starting a series where we are asking Coach Lyons to discuss what teams he sees having huge turn arounds in Kentucky in 2019. Some of these may surprise you. Check back with us as we feature a couple more teams tomorrow. Sorry guys but this is membership only content unless you just buy the article. #MembershipHasItsPriviledges

Matt Alex Ladd (Class of 2023), Team Kentucky’s Man in the Middle…

May 9, 2019 Fletcher Long 0

Michael Jackson once wrote that he was going to start with the “Man in the Mirror.” When selecting a line of scrimmage, KPGFootball starts with the “Man in the Middle.” That “Man” for us is Matt Alex Ladd from Trigg County who is back to provide a cornerstone for this year’s version of Team Kentucky Future Stars (8th).
