There was a Blackburn kid who played at Paintsville High a few years back who was a fine player and a monster of a man. We have no idea of this particular Blackburn and he are related. However, we can confidently say the two of them share certain physical characteristics. This Blackburn (Braxton) is 6’3,” 275-pounds and sufficiently mobile to be a second level defender and the top returning tackler to the Bobcat defense. Enjoy the feature. Friday Night Fletch.

Well, today seemed like as good a day as any to continue the tradition. Since KPGFootball started with the top classification when picking district winners, this time we started with Class 1A. Shelby Valley’s Dalton Meade (c/o 2020) has the Wildcats hungry for continued success

July 20, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

The season creeps up on us more and more daily. Monday, teams will be permitted to don what we call “shells” in football. Starting Monday, we will be putting on shoulder-pads to go along with the helmets we have been wearing since “Dead Period” ended. As the openers approach, one team we believe will be a favorite to win District 8 in Class 2A is Shelby Valley. Players returning like Dalton Meade is the reason why the prospects for the Wildcats from Pikeville, Kentucky look so rosy. Enjoy the article about one of the Mountain’s best back-four defensive players and one of its most versatile backfield weapons.

It would appear Peyton Blackburn (@Pblackburn77) Class of 2020 Shelby Valley, has joined General Jackson’s “Stonewall Brigade.”

May 31, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

The “Stonewall Brigade” was an immovable object against an enemy onslaught. It resulted in brigadier general Barnard Bee making a remark regarding another brigadier general named Thomas Jackson which would forever define Jackson’s military legacy. What does that have to do with Shelby Valley’s Peyton Blackburn? Why don’t you read this article and find out?

Team Kentucky Future Stars-8th, Evan Miller, Class of 2023, from Breathitt County. He’s from the mountains…He is a mountain!

May 27, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

One of the big advantages the commonwealth of Kentucky has in the Kentucky-Tennessee Future Stars Classic over its Tennessee counterparts is our ability to mine the coalfields up in Eastern Kentucky for rugged, tough, and often huge linemen. Evan Miller is such a specimen. This kid is 6-2, 305-pounds now and judging by what he did to the size 17 cleats he brought to the Somerset combine, he’s only just begun to grow. Enjoy this article about “the next big thing” at the tackle position in Kentucky HS football, circa Class of 2023.

May 25, 2019 Henry Lyon 0

Kentucky Wesleyan hit it out of the park in getting talent to its prospect camp today. KPGFootball was pleased to send someone there to cover it. Our guy sent back pictures for our use and had pretty thorough notes on what he saw and what stood out to him. Enjoy this article about what transpired in Owensboro today as one of Kentucky’s hottest college football programs strutted its stuff for the finest collection of Kentucky HS gridiron talent we have seen in any one place this entire combine season.

KPGFootball’s 21 for 2021…

August 6, 2018 Fletcher Long 1

We know both Rivals and 247Sports.com have come out with top lists for the rising sophomore class of Football prospects. So what differentiates ours from theirs? Well, the answer is elementary my dear Watsons, they are ranking kids based purely from off of reputation and how they looked running around […]

Class of 2020…Calling the Hogs…Sooee!

November 26, 2017 Fletcher Long 0

I have entitled both articles describing just how and why the linemen in the Classes of 2020 & 2021 were selected to the Football, All-State Teams, Calling the Hogs. It dawned on me some readers may be too young to remember and appreciate the reference. I certainly mean no offense, au contraire, […]
