Big E Commits to University of Charleston (W.Va.) as we tearfully say good-bye to our first class of Sophomore All-Staters…

January 28, 2020 Henry Lyon 0

We have chosen to bid farewell to a class of football players on whom we “cut our teeth” so to speak. These guys were on our first KPGFootball Sophomore All-State team. These guys never let us down and we don’t see them disappointing us in college either. Good-bye class of 2020, we will miss you…we will forever love and remember you. Coach Lyon, individually and for the entire staff of KPGFootball.

Saturday Night’s Weekly Winners…

We picked our Friday night “Winners” two days ago. We promised we would come back as the weekend drew nigher and pick the Saturday “Winners” too. Now we have done just that. Let the debate rage.

Coach Lyon’s Class 6A preseason top-10 football poll…

July 29, 2019 Fletcher Long 2

Someone contacted old Coach Lyon and asked when we were going to put out our preseason top-10 football polls for each classification. Well, the day we were called seemed like as good a day as any to continue that tradition. Since KPGFootball started with the top classification when picking district winners, this time we started with Class 1A, then 2A, then 3A, then 4A, and yesterday we projected Class 5A. Today we give you our projections for the largest Kentucky classification, Kentucky Class 6A. We have now completed this series and hope this has peaked your interest in something we love around here with all our hearts…Kentucky High School football. Have a great season, everyone of you. We can’t wait to both watch and report on it.

Hosea Knifeley, Butler Traditonal, cuts like a knife (through the OL), but it feels so right (at least for Butler)

People around the Derby City felt slighted this prospect wasn’t in the top spot on the Kentucky 20 best DL, preseason list, published to Bluegrass Rivals yesterday. Whether he should have been can be argued either way. He certainly should have been on the list and he certainly was, coming in at No. 5. Regardless, Knifeley, who’s last name reminds us of one of our favorite lyrics from a song from one of our favorite all-time Rockers, is one whale of a prospect. Enjoy the article.

One of our chief competitors, we may be flattering ourselves as they may not know we even exist, is Youth1.com. We have a former Team Kentucky Future Star from Hopkinsville, Kentucky named Seth Henderson.  Seth is a 5-8 starter, along the HHS offensive line, entering, next season, his junior year. Well, […]

North Laurel Middle School is home to some 1,100 students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The Jaguars are located in Laurel County, Kentucky. I am not sure, but am willing to bet, that out of the 1,100 students who attend North Laurel, there aren’t too many as large as […]

The Sophomore All-State Defensive Line

November 30, 2017 Fletcher Long 0

Yesterday, in presenting the Freshman AFI-KPG All-State Defensive Line,  I told you an anecdote about a player who played for the Chiefs for six years and then was traded to the St. Louis Rams in 2007, out of Texas A&M, named Dante Hall. You might remember he was nicknamed, The Human […]
