When you get to Kentucky 4A, that is the first class generally denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 4A level or higher gets increasingly rare. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.

We have a real find for you today. How many of you remember the big time linebacker who played at Magoffin and then transferred to Paintsville before heading to Marshall’s Thundering Herd? His name was Mason Lovely. Today’s feature mimics Lovely’s production in several key ways, thought not completely. Enjoy this look at a Breakout Player you may not be soon to forget. HB.

The featured photograph is of Corithian Seales-Portee of Union County. He had a really great night last Friday and he certainly wasn’t alone. By the way, this photograph was taken by Allison Evans for “The Crittenden Press.” Enjoy this regularly appearing series, “In the Running,” to learn more about “who is doing what” around the commonwealth. These preseason polls have been super hard to research and write. For one, SB-128 has made forecasting who’s back and who’s moved on super dicey to predict. Thank the Lord for Twitter. Here is our look at Class 4A. This classification figures to be super competitive, especially for the 5th slot in the poll as 6-8 teams could have been slotted there. Anyway, it is all for fun. Enjoy the feature. HB.

It’s game week and Labor Day: Let’s get this thing started the right way. Matchup Analysis of the biggest game in the Bluegrass, Sept. 11, @JCAthletics_ at @BellCoFootball

Here is a game which will be tougher than it looks on paper. Everyone gets all over the top about the loss of London Stephney at QB for Bell. His loss is huge, he was a fine player. However, what is left in Bell County, post-Stepney, is still elite talent. Johnson Central suffered some losses to graduation too. This game will be a tight one. Who’s going to win? Well, you’ll have to buy the article or subscribe to find that out! HB.

The Freshmen All-State Defenders…

January 20, 2020 Henry Lyon 1

Here are the KPGFootball Freshman All-State defenders. Certain people at places like Daviess County think it our responsibility to watch highlights of each freshman playing football across Kentucky and select the team from there. It is not. It is the responsibility of our subscribers, who pay for this right, to nominate worthy players who we review after that process is done. If a really good freshman is missed here it is because he wasn’t nominated. If you would like to apportion blame for that, are you a subscriber to this site? Did you nominate the freshman whose omission you find to be error?

Okay guys, these are also the glory boys, and in a lot of offensive schemes in the Commonwealth, more so than even the QB. The great Barry Sanders once said…If you’re a good size and a good athlete, you can be whatever type of runner you want. Well, we picked […]

Yesterday’s ranking of the top 10 in Kentucky’s Class of 2023 caused exactly what it was supposed to initiate. It resulted in a firestorm of good-natured debate and a lot of Well, what about __________? That is to be expected and we were pleased with the net result. Stimulating discussion about […]
