This is a phenomenon we discussed with Darion’s father just yesterday. Why was EKU the first to evaluate Dearinger and then only offer after two bigger, more prestigious schools pulled the trigger. Do they believe FBS schools are better at evaluating prospects than the coaches they have hired? Don’t know, but FCS schools slow-walking obvious Division I, FBS-Level talent is a strategy which some coach at that level might want to explain to us sometime. We don’t see the benefit of arriving at the station after the train has departed.
Someone contacted old Coach Lyon and asked when we were going to put out our preseason top-10 football polls for each classification. Well, today seemed like as good a day as any to continue the tradition. Since KPGFootball started with the top classification when picking district winners, this time we started with Class 1A and yesterday we projected Class 3A. Today we give you our projections for the next classification up from the lowest one, here is Class 4A!

Anderson County has made the move from 5 to 4A. In Kentucky, the classification in which a team plays is meaningless as we have argued many times previously. Kentucky has good high school teams and bad high school teams and they are all over all 6 of its classifications. Still, Ryan Stratton is one of our top 2021 offensive centers. People around the Derby City felt slighted this prospect wasn’t in the top spot on the Kentucky 20 best DL, preseason list, published to Bluegrass Rivals yesterday. Whether he should have been can be argued either way. He certainly should have been on the list and he certainly was, coming in at No. 5. Regardless, Knifeley, who’s last name reminds us of one of our favorite lyrics from a song from one of our favorite all-time Rockers, is one whale of a prospect. Enjoy the article.
This is a prospect KPGFootball has featured plenty of times. This is also a prospect the instate schools can ill-afford to allow to slip down the interstate to Knoxville, Tennessee. Some Power-5 school is going to lock this guy down here pretty soon. If you are either a U of L, UK, or WKU fan, let’s hope it is one of those.
