Malik Butler (’26) and his Spartans belong with the ‘Big Boys!’ @CoachDerekMason, @SouthWarrenFB, @Malikbutler23, @khsaafootball, @KyHighFootball, @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @LasatersCoffee

South Warren has some of the best talent rostered anywhere in the KHSAA at any level of competition. This coming year should be no different. The Spartans are 6A, instead of 5A, this season but the argument can be made the trek through 5A on the western end of the commonwealth is at least as daunting as 6A if not a little mores (Louisville excluded). Either way, this Malik Butler is the real-freaking deal. Enjoy this feature about a kid we featured before when he was still playing football at Franklin-Simpson. This kid can do it.

Chase Bell (’28 QB) from South Warren is this week’s Kentucky Comfort Creator from @bigassfans @minguabeefjerky, @KyHighFootball, @khsaafootball, @SouthWarrenFB, @IamChaseBell15

Chase Bell and Camden Page look to battle it out preseason for the QB-slot at South Warren vacated by Bryce Button’s graduation. South Warren is coming off a 12-2 season where it was arguably the second best team in 5A in ’24. Where will they figure into the 6A title chase? Well, we don’t know. We would suppose they will go as far as either Page or Bell carries them. Chase Bell is a ’28 guy with an incredible frame and athleticism so impressive Maryland has already offered. Bell’s frame and growth potential are carrying the day for him as he is our Big Ass Fans Kentucky Comfort Creator this week. Let’s keep it cool out there KY.

We all know Phillip Haywood and Dudley Hilton are the two winningest football coaches in the KHSAA history. Haywood at 491 will be tough to catch but Hilton is 30 or so behind him and he’s still going strong. What about the guys who shone like bright, shining stars then moved on to “greener pastures.” Could some of those guys have been “the best?” Perhaps. If there is a short-timer who could be considered, we believe he may be in this particular grouping of three. Enjoy this feature.

Bryan Jones is among the hottest young coaches in the industry Kentucky-wide. He has his Cougars playing football at an incredibly high level and looking every bit like 5A threats coming down the season’s home stretch. Enjoy this look at another one of those coaches sure to get plenty of air time this offseason as programs will jockey for coaches.

This prospect has a brother named Caden who showed in Western KY’s bowl game, a year ago, he was nothing at which to sneeze. That particular Veltkamp looks to be headed to the portal, or maybe has already shipped out; we don’t know, we cover the high school game. This Veltkamp is a freaking football player and plenty versatile. He will challenge for “Mr. Football” next season and will likely be the district, region, and maybe even classification’s “Player of the Year.” Enjoy this feature and don’t forget to get by your local Independence Bank and discover why and how our people, financial products, and services have started a revolution in the Kentucky banking industry. Bryce Button, a ’25 QB at South Warren in Bowling Green, KY, over the first seven (7) games of this ’23 season has been the very picture of Swiss-made precision. Last week he completed close to 80% of his passing attempts and threw for four (4) TD’s against 0-picks. Regardless of college potential, and he has his fair share, this kid is a dynamite high school football player. Enjoy the feature and celebrate with us the services, people, and financial products which have caused a revolution in Kentucky’s banking industry. FL.

When you get to Kentucky 5A, that is certainly denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 5A level or higher gets increasingly rare but you will still see it and usually those pulling it off are really special talents. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.
