Storm Warning: Dariyon Walker from Browning Springs looking to contribute immediately at Central @minguabeefjerky, @bigassfans, @ChiefSmoke10, @_CoachManning, @SylasGunn, @carlos_mason52, @HopkinsCentral

Cloudy skies upcoming...look out for "Stormy" weather

’29 OLB/WR looks to crack the Storm’s lineup early

Dariyon Walker has some physical growth to undergo. That can be said about any and all eighth-graders, rising freshmen. That shouldn’t take away from the 5’8,” 140-pounder’s being one heck of a prospect right now. Walker clips off 40’s in five seconds flat, which is flying at his stage of physical development, and is hitting the off-season working on his physical development, strength, tackling, and play recognition. He should challenge for PT come the Fall. Guys like Walker, retooling the roster year in and year out, is how programs are built.

Morton’s Gap, KY: Something we see often these days, which we didn’t use to see, is kids entering ninth grade prepared both physically and emotionally to hit the varsity lineup in football. Dariyon Walker appears to be just such a kid.

Dariyon Walker

Walker is only 5’8,” 140-pounds, but he is working hard this offseason on his physique, his football skills, his strength, and his play recognition. He has some wonderful attributes presently.

Walker is fast, particularly for an eighth grade kid figuring out where the squat rack is located. Walker clips off 40’s in five-flat presently. He’s only going to get faster.

Walker has been deployed at OLB and WR primarily playing for Coach Tyrone Gregory at Browning Springs. We got to interview Coach Gregory for this piece.

Gregory told KPGFootball, “Walker doesn’t mind playing anywhere you put him. Walker loves special teams. Walker loves playing defense. Walker is adept at receiver. Walker is skilled in coverage.”

Gregory went on to relate, “Walker is a high motor-high energy guy who always seems to be in the right spot.” When asked if he thought his protégé would play early at Central, Gregory said, “If I were betting, that would be my wager.”

We like Walker as a three-phase guy. Walker covers kicks and punts well. Walker is an OLB not afraid to get down hill and meet ball carriers while demonstrating the speed and spacial quicks to cover the flats and over the middle. Walker has the speed to contribute in the down field passing attack, with the hands, route running, and courage to make the tough, over the middle receptions.

Walker is always around the football. That is a testament to his coaching thus far. That is a testament to his football IQ.

Those are the guys who find the field. Those are the type ninth graders who thrive under the bright glare of the Friday Night Lights!
