@SageDawson from Boyle County, Kentucky looks poised to ‘Break-out’ in ’21. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank

The Appalachia Prep Combine is commencing on May 22, 2021 at the Rocky top Sports World in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. One of the more intriguing young prospects from Kentucky invited was Danville, Kentucky’s Sage Dawson.

Sage Dawson had quite a sophomore campaign as a Danville Admiral. He completed 91 of his 152 passing attempts for 1,068-yards passing, throwing for 9-TDs against 5-interceptions playing in the hardest district in Kentucky Class 2A. Dawson also rushed for 4-TDs and was fourth on the team in scoring (Remember, QBs aren’t credited with the points on TD passes).

Dawson is listed as a “dual-threat” QB and can also play DB, something for which his frame suits him rather well. This ’23 prospect is 6-0 and weighs 145-pounds. He also excels on the hardwood which tells us something about a player’s athleticism.

Looking at his highlights, we see a heady player adept at avoiding pressure who moves the pocket well and keeps his eyes downfield spying targets while on the scramble. He is clipping the 40-yard dash in the 4.9’s presently but will get faster as he matures, fills out, and gains some “combine-technique” which the APC (Appalachia Prep Combine) will definitely help both the other prospects and him learn.

We have talked about Sage before though we think this is his first feature. We wrote about RB, Caleb Burns, about a year ago this time. In that article we mention Sage Dawson and what a splendid job he did starting under center as a freshman.

In a lot of ways, this feature here is a coming out party for the ’23 prospect. His football debutante ball will kick-off for real in Gatlinburg at the APC in front of dozens and dozens of college scouts scouring for talent.

We believe he will leave a big impression on them. He will do the same for you in ’21.
