KYMSFA Playoffs, here’s how we see the D-3 bracket.…

The KYMSFA has announced its playoff brackets. KPGFootball thought it would be fun to break down some of the matchups and pick a likely D-3 State Champion. We broke down D-1 two days ago and D-2 yesterday and got a tremendous amount of views. Like we promised, here’s our take on D-3.

In Region 1, Campbellsville and Edmondson face off in Brownsville, Kentucky in the 2 versus three match-up. As the game is in Edmondson County, sophisticated readers will be able to ascertain the higher seeded team between the two. Brownsville, Kentucky is not an easy bus ride for any team. From Campbellsville, Kentucky, it is an approximate bus trip of 1.5 hours though the two sites are only 61 miles apart. It isn’t an easy 61 mile trip, hence the hour and a half. Edmonson is a tough team to beat at home, so we will pick Edmonson County to advance and play Hancock County for the Regional Championship. Now the bracket indicates the Regional Final site is to be announced, so we really don’t know where Region 1 will be hosting its Championship. The top three seeds in each division are Bowling Green (D-1), Warren East (D-2), and Hancock County (D-3). Our guess is the Regional Finals will be in Bowling Green, KY. Edmondson County has more experience making the playoffs in recent history so we will take Edmondson to advance on to Lexington out of Region 1.

As for the other Regions, we believe CAL will beat LCA (Defending D-3 State Champion) and will then travel to the Region 3 Championship site and upset Georgetown. In Region 2, we like Middlesboro to get past Williamsburg and then to lose to top seeded Meece. In one of the Region 4 play-ins, we like Paintsville over Shelby Valley. Pikeville, which has the top rated linebacker in Kentucky’s Class of 2024 (Carson Wright), will win BIG over 6th seeded Jenkins in the other Region 4 play-in game. In the Regional semis, we will take the Belfry Buccaneers over Paintsville, in a game to be played on Pond Creek and Pikeville will upset Letcher Central in a game the Panthers will have to travel to Whitesburg, Kentucky to play. The Regional 4 finals will be in Pikeville, which we suppose amounts to a home field advantage for the Panthers, but the Buccaneers are a Pike County team too and the schools are a whopping 18 miles apart. We believe the Panthers upset the mighty Buccaneers in the Regional Final at Home to advance to Lexington.

In the Region 1 versus Region 3 semi-final, we are taking CAL over Edmondson. In the Region 2 versus Region 4 semi-final, we are taking Pikeville over Meece. That will pit Pikeville versus CAL for the D-3 State Championship and we are taking Pikeville to win the State Football Championship in D-3 this year. Well, sports fans, thanks for playing!
