Lasaters...time to wake up and smell the coffee!

’28 QB is coming off a great year

🎶...I was the man for the job.🎶
Written by Luke Bryan and Rachel Thibodeau, 2006

Jasiah McCarley has a few things the new 6A, first district ball club, the Christian County Tigers, will both have in abundance and will definitely need. McCarley is a talented skill player who is productive, heady, and capable. McCarley had a big year for the Hoptown Tigers in its final season before consolidating with the cross town Christian County Colonels. McCarley was among the top ’28s in the commonwealth, particularly as a QB, who threw for over 2,000-yards and 20-“Tuddies.” McCarley was only picked six (6) times all year and managed a TD rushing. Most importantly, he lead the last Hoptown roster of all time to a seven win season and berth in the second round of the 6A, KHSAA playoffs. Seeing just what he gets done in ’26 should be worth the price of admission. We can’t wait. We are pretty sure many of you are equally anxious.

Hopkinsville, KY: Jasiah McCarley has an unassuming frame. We have seen him listed at 5’8,” 165 and we have seen him listed as tall as 5’10.” The 165-pound listing appears to be the. most consistently promulgated.

We don’t care how tall or short McCarley is. All we care about is production. We write about “football players,” not necessarily prospects.

There are services which do that. Ours is just not such a service.

What is important to KPGFootball is the fact McCarley completed over a hundred (101) passes a season ago, for a little over 2,000-yards (2,007) and 20-TDs against only six (6) picks. McCarley also led the final Hoptown Tiger team to seven (7) wins and a berth in the second round of the KHSAA, 6A playoffs.

Those are the important numbers to KPGFootball. Those are the numbers we monitor. Not his exact height, not his exact weight, not his hand size nor his cranial circumference.

There are some other impressive numbers which mean something to us and will mean a lot to the teams recruiting McCarley. How about the kid carrying a 3.6-GPA? Next level programs will love that.

QB is a position one can’t really afford to play while being stupid. Good QBs are “heady,” intelligent, able to read fronts and coverages, able to make quick and wise decisions. This guy’s TD to INT ratio (20:6) demonstrates McCarley was making some really good decisions with the football in 2025.

Not a ton of idiots playing QB across the KHSAA

McCarley will be a junior in ’26. This offseason will be critical for McCarley as the period between the sophomore and junior years is considered one where athletes often experience the most improvement and physical development.

We don’t know what the future holds for the Tigers as two former rosters will join to form one football team. It will be both a hard and bitter pill for sworn enemies to disavow age-old prejudices in favor of comity and uniting against new foes, new enemies.

We do know this, the new Christian County Tigers may find some truffles hidden amongst the roots of the Hopkinsville High School former football roster. They may find some next-level type kids to utilize, and on whom they may rely, as the two rosters mix together into one.

Identifying McCarley amongst the “truffles” is hardly a stretch. Matter of fact, many in the area press corp would readily join in our praise for this player.

Identifying a weapon like Jasiah McCarley should certainly help get the Christian County Tigers ready for the challenges ahead. That is why Jasiah McCarley, is our Lasaters Coffee & Tea, Wake Up and Smell the Coffee Player of the Week.
