Crouch, No. 32

There is a lot of excitement centering around East Robertson Football. Why shouldn’t there be? When you boast one of the country’s finest freshman football players in the Country in Class of 2022, Taylor Groves, knowing you have three more years of him remaining, most people in high school football would be perfectly exuberant. Who says Groves is one of the country’s best? Well, MaxPreps for one as they selected him to one of their Freshman All-American football teams at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Of course, Groves isn’t the sole reason to be excited about the Indians’ prospects on the gridiron. There’s the return of All-Region 4-2A running back Jaden Crouch.

While Groves was gaining 280 yards over the ground with 4 rushing scores, catching 42 footballs for 776 receiving yards with 8 TDs receiving, and leading the team with 86-points scored, including 4 two-point conversions, let’s not act like Crouch was watching from sidelines. Crouch had a whale of a year, production-wise, and looks to vastly improve on 2018’s numbers in what will be his last go around as a prep footballer.

Though standing only 5-8 and weighing 188 pounds, the Class of 2020, Jaden Crouch, ran the football for 418 yards in 98 carries with 6 rushing TDs. Crouch was also credited with 4 kicked conversions and a safety, bringing his scoring total last season up to 42-points, good for 3rd on the entire team.

With both Groves and Crouch returning next year, and Cameron Swift back to trigger the attack in Swift’s last spin around the dial, the Indians figure to be quite a formidable Friday-night obstacle for any foe on its schedule in 2019. This may prove to be one tribe of Indians your wagon-train would do well to avoid.

Congratulations, to Jaden Crouch for being selected this week’s Stewart Williams Furniture Company’s Robertson County Player of the Week. Join us next week as we anoint a new recipient.
