Is Todd County Central’s Joshuah Keith the No. 1 QB in KY’s 2024 class? We think so, and here’s why…

Joshuah Keith

Right above this paragraph is a video of who we believe at KPGFootball to be the top QB in the Class of 2024, throughout the commonwealth of Kentucky. We don’t know where he would be listed as a “prospect” but we do know where he should be listed as a “football player.”

We saw his incredible poise when he led Kentucky to victory over Tennessee in the Kentucky-Tennessee Future Stars game this past summer. For his efforts he was awarded the Offensive MVP for Team Kentucky. For an accounting of his performance there, please see the linked article.

Now we see him leading the Todd County Central MS Rebels, that’s right, Todd County, to incredible feats and heights against competition which has historically beaten the upstart Rebels to death. We hear Keith and his Rebels ran Christian County Middle School plum off the field in a Sevens match back in July.

Anyway, we have made it no secret our fandom of this young, QB-ing phenom. We nominated him to the Bret Cooper All-American game where he gained selection, the start in his age group and the age group one class higher, and was named the Russell Wilson Outstanding QB Award winner.

We were at the Appalachia Prep Combine where he registered both a 4.7-second 40-yard dash time and a 4.0-second pro-agility shuttle. The shuttle was the 4th fastest on the day (approximately 300 prospects in attendance) at the region’s top college prospect combine containing HS juniors and seniors rated 3, 4, and even 5 stars by the major services.

No, back to the above video. To the casual observer they see a kid rolling left and throwing down the field, against his body, to an open and streaking receiver scoring a TD. That is why the person watching it is a “casual observer.”

At KPGFootball, we are football experts. Let us tell you what we see. First, we see an end come screaming off the edge completely unblocked. Then, Keith calmly and deftly play fakes the TB dive, making the end make one step inside to play the run. After the end’s mis-step, Keith is then able to roll out left and avoid the end he has “deked” inside.

Keith rolls left, sure, but the most important thing he does is “square” his shoulders to the line of scrimmage before attempting to hit his receiver. He also attacks the line of scrimmage on the rollout instead of fading back and throwing something off his back foot. Finally, he gets the ball off and hits the down-field target in stride.

Now, that is what we saw at KPGFootball. That, and the many plays like it we have seen from this young signal caller, is why he is our top-rated QB in his graduating class.

Ding, ding, ding, school’s out!
