Owensboro (Sr.) High’s Austin Gough, Class of 2021, is the Independence Bank Revolutionary Player of the Week

There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank Player of the Week. Independence Bank is proud to sponsor a weekly article highlighting players in the areas where Independence Bank flourishes who embody the same type of revolutionary service to their respective football teams which has made Independence Bank unique and special in the banking industry.

Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance both has and continues to exceed both the Owensboro Red Devils’ and Owensboro community’s expectations. Today, we are focusing on Class of 2021, LB-RB, Austin Gough from Owensboro (Sr.) High School.

Gough’s Owensboro High School is located right down the road from 3 Independence Bank branches on 2425 Frederica Street, 2465 W. Parrish Avenue, and 3228 KY-54, respectively. Get on by and visit the most rapidly growing bank in the commonwealth of Kentucky, Independence Bank. Independence Bank has started a revolution in the banking industry.

This isn’t the first time Austin Gough has been recognized as the Revolutionary Player of the Week. The Class of 2021 linebacker/running-back is largely considered among the elite at the linebacker position throughout Kentucky and we believe, if given the carries, he would prove just as elite at RB.

Austin is 6-1.5 and weighs in the neighborhood of 210 pounds. He is an over-300 pound bench-presser who runs the 40-yard dash in the 4.6 range and shuttles in 4.3 seconds. He has a 32-inch vertical and a broad jump approaching 10-feet.

Austin was selected among the best LBs in the Appalachia region at the APC this summer and now has been selected by Cat Pause Magazine the preseason district player of the year in Class 5A, District 2. Surely we don’t need to tell you it is rare for that award to go to a player playing primarily along the first two levels of the defense. Usually that distinction is reserved for receivers, running-backs, and quarter-backs.

Congratulations to Austin Gough for his Revolutionary Play which has earned this week’s recognition from the fastest growing bank in the Commonwealth of Kentucky…your friends at Independence Bank.
