Dekel Crowdus, “…the best receiver I have ever seen…”

Crowdus (L) and Long (R) both top 2021s and good friends

We have always thought the best recognition in football is peer recognition. We can measure a guy’s 40 and we can measure broad jump and vertical. However, the credibility a football player wants, sort of like a gladiator, is respect from the guys “in the ring” knocking the crap out of each other. Respect from one’s playing peers will always be the respect a real football player craves.

There are tons of things KPGFootball can tell you about Dekel Crowdus. After all, he was on our KPGFootball All-State team before any of the national pundits even knew who he was.

We can tell you he runs the 40-yard dash in a laser-timed, fully-automated, 4.36 seconds. We can tell you he’s the 22nd most highly coveted WR in America according to Rivals.com and a 5.8 rated 4-star. We can tell you he is Rivals.com’s number one rated football player in Kentucky’s class of 2021. We can tell you he carries a 3.0 grade point average.

Unlike some prospects who only seem to thrive during Sevens’ season or wearing shorts and shirts at combines, Dekel gets it done on the field. Crowdus, in 2018, and playing for a Class 6A football team which finished 11-1, caught 37 passes for 831 yards receiving over his sophomore campaign with 11 TD receptions.

We can tell you about his 14 FBS-Power 5 offers which increase so rapidly we don’t know the exact number of offers as we sit here writing this today. The number increases about every time we check our Twitter feed.

All of the above gives one plenty to feature and relate about Dekel and why he is as great as advertised. None of us selecting him this or that play the game, at least not anymore and for some, they never really did. That is why the next thing we are going to relate carries so much weight with us and should with you.

We were interviewing another top 2021 guy name William Long for an article we were publishing about him and how he had performed on the camp-combine circuit. Somehow Dekel’s name came up and William said I might be biased, but Dekel Crowdus is the best WR I have ever seen.

Now that isn’t praise from some out of shape has been or never was. That is praise from someone who played on Team Kentucky with Dekel, is in Dekel’s graduating class, and is “in the ring too” so to speak.

We’ll have to agree with William in his description of his good friend. He just might be the best WR we have seen also. It just doesn’t mean as much when we say it as when it comes from a peer.
