These articles may not run in the order they were written and turned over to the magazine. However, by the time you read this one we will have made a deep-dive into all 6-KY classifications. We hope you enjoy this series. We can’t control when the editorial board elects to run the series or in what order. Enjoy this look at 6A. FL.

This guy here is a perfect example of just how good you have to be to don a jersey emblazoned with the name of any college or university. College football is no joke, and Tate Johnson is serious about it. Enjoy this feature about a young man who greatly helped his high school team win its first state (5A) title and who hopes to do similarly for the Colonels, his new team. HB.

The KPGFootball preseason, Class 5A, top five. @WoodfordFBall @minguabeefjerky @HLPreps @KyHighs @KyHighFootball @1776Bank @PrepSpin @MaxPreps @CovCathFootball @SrHighFootball @FDouglassFB @SouthWarrenFB

When you get to Kentucky 5A, that is certainly denoted as “Big Boy Football” within the commonwealth. For instance, players playing two-ways or “iron man football” at the 5A level or higher gets increasingly rare but you will still see it and usually those pulling it off are really special talents. Here is our best guess concerning how this classification shakes out this coming season. Enjoy! HB.

@myles_moseley4 from @FDouglassFB is ready to take his place on playing surface in the Frederick Douglass lineup. @1776Bank @minguabeefjerky @MaxPreps @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @HLPreps @coachnatemcpeak @natemcpeak

Can’t imagine anywhere in Kentucky apart from Frederick Douglass where an athlete which is framed out like Myles Moseley (’23) would be anything apart from the team’s main target in the downfield passing game. Yet, here is a 6’3″ and 170-pound WR/FS used primarily as a down-field stalk blocker catching only 4-footballs over a 15-game season. The graduation and matriculation onto the UK roster of ’22’s Dane Key should free up some targets for Moseley. We predict the Bronco faithful will wonder what took so long. HB.

@JalenHand will have his hand in the @FDouglassFB defensive effort. @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank @KyHighFootball @MaxPreps

He’s among the very best down linemen in the Commonwealth’s ’23 graduating class. Big programs are jumping on with offers and many others are circling looking for a place to land. His name is Jalen Hand and he is just another example of the strides Lexington, KY and its in-town programs have made in establishing Lexington as a hot-bed of in-KY recruiting. Enjoy the feature. HB.

@jager_burton committed to @UKFootball and from @FDouglassFB is this week’s @minguabeefjerky “Protein-packed Performer of the Week.” @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @1776Bank @coachnatemcpeek

If winning co-Mr. Football from the Associated Press isn’t worth this award and the prizes which come along with it, then what does one possibly have to do? All kidding aside, we have already awarded this distinction to Cameron Hergott so it is only fair Jager should get a T-shirt and some delicious beef jerky too. Enjoy this feature from our friends at the Mingua Beef Jerky Company. HB.

Another break-out guy for the coming @KyHighFootball season? How about @whawkins_OL (Wyatt Hawkins) from @BourbonFootball! @minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @1776Bank

March 4, 2021 Henry Lyon 0

There are players whose “break-out” years are easier to predict than others. Kids framed out like Wyatt Hawkins; well, his “breaking-out” this coming Fall isn’t too hard to predict. Hawkins is a transfer into Bourbon County from Class 5A powerhouse Frederick Douglass in Lexington, Kentucky. He’s a kid making the […]

@JakLindsey24 from @SrHighFootball is the @1776Bank “Revolutionary Player of the Week.” @Minguabeefjerky @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball

Here is something right amazing, almost exactly a year ago, December 29, 2019 to be exact, we featured then 8th-grade All American Jak Lindsey from Owensboro MIddle School. Well, a lot has happed since last year, like his starting in the 5A championship game for Owensboro High School as only a 9th-grader (man, we called this one) but he is still a super-star player, nonetheless. Enjoy the article. HB.
