Daniel Thomas from @BellCountyFB may be the most versatile Bobcat in the Bell County lair. @DanielThomas_4 @BoyGirls13th @minguabeefjerky @1776Bank @PrepSpin @KyHighFootball @MaxPreps @HLpreps @kyhighs

No. 4 for the Bobcats is turning into No. 1 on opposing scouting reports

Versatile wrestling and football star considers himself a ‘position less’ player

There are some guys who are just ‘football players.’ Daniel Thomas would be one. He is leading his Bobcats in many important statistical categories and seems to always be around the football.

When it comes to versatility, one doesn’t find a more versatile, high school football star than ’24’s Daniel Thomas. Thomas has fully exhibited this versatility over the first four games and has Bell County sitting at 3-1 and looking right formidable.

Daniel Thomas is an unassuming looking guy, at least in street clothes. He is 5’9,” weighs 172-solidly built pounds, and is a wrestling star in addition to what he does in football.

If you were to line him up with other players in his peer group, and got to choose which player you wanted for your team, it would be doubtful Thomas would be the pick of that litter. Tons of people would be getting this wrong.

First of all, Thomas, even before Friday night’s game with Whitley, had gained 280-yards and scored three (3) TD’s while catching a pass (66-yard score) and logging 14-tackles to pace the defense in an earlier game with Lincoln County. He was awarded the Tim Short Auto Mall Player of the Game for that effort.

Friday night, Thomas was up to his “old tricks.” Against Whitley County, the junior gained 136-yards rushing in only 14-carries. Thomas scored two (2) rushing TD’s, caught two (2) passes for 25-yards while leading the team in scoring (16-points) and tackles (13).

The most important lead, and Thomas would be the first to acknowledge this, was his leading his team to a 38-28 home vanquishing of Whitley County (1-3) and leading his team to a 3-1 mark through its first four games. In following our theme, Thomas will have to lead the team to the winner’s circle, once more, when McCreary Central (2-3) pulls into Bell County this coming Friday night.

Now we don’t know who is all vying for the signature of Daniel Thomas at the next level. With his skill set and versatility, it wouldn’t be wise for college programs to ignore what Thomas could bring to the table. Thomas’ 3.929 GPA should help interested schools come up with some academic money to sweeten the deal.

This prospect has the very good fortune to get to play for a legendary head coach. Dudley Hilton is Kentucky’s second, all-time, winningest football coach with over 400-victories to his credit.

Coach Hilton is getting a legendary performance out of this star player too. It’s literally a match (wrestling pun) made in heaven, and it is working out splendidly!
