There is no better time than the present to anoint another Independence Bank player of the week. Independence Bank has a goal of achieving everyday excellence, and this week we are focusing on a player whose performance exceeded both the Colonels’ and the Henderson County community’s expectations. We are focusing on the 5-11, 205 pound class of 2019, QB-MLB, Skip Patterson. Patterson plays for the Henderson County Colonels who are a first district, Class 6A football team located in the same county as three separate Independence Bank locations right there in Henderson, Kentucky.
Skip Patterson, from his QB position over his junior campaign, gained 654 yards rushing this past season on 184 attempts with 17 rushing TDs while passing 175 times with 97 completions for another 1,186 yards and 6 passing TDs. For his career, Patterson has thrown for 2,552 career yards and rushed for another 1,183 making him only the second player in school history to rush for 1,000 or more yards and pass for over 2,000. Patterson scored 102 of his teams 285 points last year making him account for nearly 36% of his teams total points scored. No wonder Patterson was voted the Kentucky Football Coaches Association’s 6A, First District, Player of the Year for the 5-7 Colonels. All of the above may result in Patterson’s selection for our honor one of the easiest weekly selections we have ever had to make.
