2019 corner-back/QB, Asa Young, is this week’s Todd County Central Rebel of the Week

The Todd County Central HS Rebel of the Week is...

KPGFootball is proud to be the exclusive digital coverage provider of the Todd County Central Rebels football team. Todd County, as this on-line publication has before reported, has a lot of exciting things going on in and around its football program. The Rebels will be coached this upcoming season by veteran football coach, Darell Keith, and return a lot of young talent from off a 6-5 football team. The excitement about the program and its future prospects has resulted in an uptick in financial donations permitting the program to initiate some exciting facility upgrades. These upgrades will leave the field and press box area unparalleled anywhere in the immediate area regarding high school football facilities. They include field, natural turf improvements and modernizing the press box at the stadium permitting luxury viewing accommodations for major supporters of the team. The renovated press box will be furnished lavishly and will feature big screen televisions in the booth from which the on-field action will be monitored by both patrons and working press during game action. Returning back to our tradition of singling out terrific players, as opposed to recognizing the head coach, we have selected Class of 2019, QB/Corner, Asa Young as this week’s Todd County Central Rebel of the Week.

I have the distinct pleasure of getting to chat with head coach Darell Keith on a regular basis and the thing we love to discuss, more than anything else, is his Todd County Central Rebels football team. He was telling me the other day, man, I have a good idea for QB, I sure hope this works out well for us. I said what’s the plan? To which he responded, I am thinking about Asa Young. Well now; I know that name. One doesn’t have to be any football savant to recognize the name of one of Western Kentucky’s best cover corners. So I asked Coach Keith whether he was talking about the same Asa Young who led the Rebels in interceptions last year (7); who came up from corner to contribute 31 tackles, 25 of which were solos; and the guy who attempted only 5 passes last season on offense, completing two, for 48 yards and no scores. His response, Yeah, that one. Then I started thinking more about it.

I mean Asa Young did score 30 offensive points last year, 24 on TDs and 6 by way of two-point conversion. He did lead class 2A’s, 5th stingiest pass defenses in the entire commonwealth, the same defense which allowed a measly 79 passing yards per game. You know what, I thought to myself; I am sold. Asa Young is one of the Rebels most dynamic returning playmakers, why wouldn’t you think of putting talent like that at QB? So I don’t know whether Young ends up at QB or not, next season; but one thing is for sure…no one is beating him out at corner-back! So congratulations to Asa Young, and allow KPGFootball to wish you all the success in the world wherever you may be offensively positioned. You, Asa Young, are our Todd County Central Rebel of the Week.
