We thought it would be fun to look in on one of the Kings of Kentucky Football, the Beechwood High School Tigers. The boys from Fort Mitchell have put up both an enviable and unmatched record of sustained excellence which includes 3 State 1A football titles in a row (2016, 17, 18), one runner-up (2015), 5 Regional Titles and appearances in the Semis (2009, 10, 11, 12, and 14) and a regional runner-up in 2013. Over that decade the Tigers have averaged an 11-3 mark per season and won slightly over 78% of the games in which it has played. Needless to say, they don’t rebuild, they reload. How do they look in 2019? Well, let’s just see…Enjoy the article.

How was Ray Graham able to step in and turn around a Thoroughbred football program in Cynthiana, Kentucky (Harrison County) which had won a total of 9 games from 2014-2017? Well, it certainly didn’t hurt to have a Marshall on hand. Coach Graham had previously coached two other Marshalls, one named Bubba, the other named Cliff. Now he’s coaching Connor. At KPGFootball, we just can’t think of Rockcastle County’s high school football team without thinking of Deputy Barney Fife, from the Andy Griffith Show, launching into his speech to inmates in the Mayberry County Jail which seemingly always began with, “Here at the Rock…” The boys from Mt. Vernon, Kentucky will hit you like an inmate pounding a rock with a sledge-hammer. Here’s a look at the Rockcastle Rockets and where they figure to be, personnel-wise, heading into 2019’s season.

A lot of people questioned the legitimacy of our Class 5A poll because we didn’t have Montgomery County’s Indians among the top-ten teams. The mild uproar was understandable as Egli’s Indians have scalped 19 of the previous 25 opponents over the 2017 & 2018 seasons. Players like Adam McCune, and his brother Luke before him, are just two among many reasons for the run. No one should be surprised when a player with the surname “McCune” turns out to be a fantastic high school player. Heck, it’s a family tradition.
