Jackson County on Thursday night, with the help of a splendid senior RB who began the year as a TE/LB, did something the program has never before done…the Generals won their sixth game of the season in only the team’s eighth attempt. The Generals are sitting at the top of the 5th District (freelance) standings with two games to play staring down the barrels of an 8-2 potential. They were 0-10 a year ago. Wow!

I coached a player at Hoptown Middle School who went on to be a star in HS and signed with Campbellsville. Jevon Leavell was that guy and a coach I had on staff looked at me, one time, and said, “Coach Long, I am going to give you some advice today which stands to really help us…find ways to get the ball in Mr. Leavell’s hands.” Leavell went on to break Hoptown’s 100-meter dash record in track. Artose Pinner and Curtis Pulley both ran track for the Tigers. Leavell and Wheels Turner have lots in common. Enjoy the feature. FL.
