Talk about your protein-packed performers, this 5-11, 190-pound RB/DB for Belfry High School (3A) had a quite a night this past Friday. Matter of fact, he’s having quite the year. We think he is a bone fide “Mr. Football” candidate. He’s been in the running every week for the “prize.” If a night like what he had Friday doesn’t get you a T-shirt and some beef jerky, it is hard to imagine what one has to accomplish to win the award. We published 11 projections in the first weekend of October and finished 10-1. Hey, we’re mad we missed on the one. Here is a run-down of how we fared. HB.
This young man is an excellent player along an odd front as a nose. He may have a future along the interior as an offensive lineman too in college where his defensive background will be viewed as a “plus.” Historically, converted defensive linemen make for more aggressive offensive linemen who are better finishers. Here’s one for our friends in Owensboro, Kentucky where Independence Bank has 3-branches presently. QB, Lincoln Clancy had huge shoes to fill when he inherited the job from 2019 graduate, Drew Hartz. So far the returns are very favorable. Most importantly, he has led the “Aces” to three wins against zero defeats. Catholic (2A) still has to play Owensboro “Senior” (5A), Apollo (6A), and Daviess County (6A) before everything is “said and done.” For now, Clancy is rolling and so is the team he has been entrusted to lead. Talk about your protein-packed performers, this 6-1, 180-pound WR for Pikeville High School (1A) had a night which broke two state records and came in 3rd in another statistical category. If a night like that doesn’t get you a T-shirt and some beef jerky, it is hard to imagine what one has to accomplish to win this award. West Carter is beginning to make quite a bit of noise around 2A’s 8th District. This team played Beechwood for a regional title a year ago and looked poised to make it, at least, that far again this coming season, pandemic permitting.
